OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Healthy Foods and Fresh Smelling Sailors
Yes, that’s the request for June, 2013’s Molly’s Adopt a Sailor group. The USS MOMSEN (DDG 92) has proudly called themselves the “USS Never in Port” due to 3 deployments in 3 years. Plus, this last deployment left with only 2 weeks’ notice! So, they have been away from their loved ones quite a bit, to which we can help with morale.
Their Point of Contact (POC) says that they have plenty of candy and non-healthy food snacks, and could really use more healthy food choices. We also discussed personal hygiene products, and brand name products would really be appreciated. As always, the most needed item would be mail; cards and letters from home!
So, let’s send them protein snacks, single drink mixes, meal bars, single microwavable foods, canned single serve fruit, nuts, crackers, and other goodies.
Include female and male personal hygiene, and take care of some of those “stinkies” aboard a ship that’s been out too many times in such a short 36 months. Full size body washes/shampoo, toothpaste, single packaged toothbrushes, deodorant, lotions, shaving gel in a tube (no aerosols) and other comforts of home.
Ziplock up some stationery they can mail back home.
Pillowcases are allowed, and will be tracked on “We Stitch Love” page
Your count is 50 female and 230 male.
The USS MOMSEN, reporting for Molly’s love! And with a name like MOMsen, we know how to fill up the MOM part! Get those pens going, have the kids draw pictures, send some newsy letters from home.

Hi I am hoping to get some of my friends to put together boxes for the Momsen. Can I get more details? I have sent boxes before to the Momsen (my daughter is on the ship in her first deployment), but not sure if you give me names of other sailors, or who I address the boxes to. Also, I would love to send pillowcases. Can you provide some advice?

Hi Katy--I've had a vacation scheduled since January, and just got back. Got as far as setting this adoption up before we flew out of town.
Snacks: High protein. Jerkey, peanut butter, nuts of all kinds, single serve foods like beef a roni, fruits in single serve cans or plastic containers, etc. With this also pack full size toothpaste and singly packaged toothpaste, dental floss/picks.
Full size personal hygiene: body shampoos, nylon scrubbies,lotions, female monthly products, deodorant, nail files, anything that would be considered a luxury since they don't have easy access to stores.
More MOMS will have some ideas, too.
I will have a special Point of Contact address on our MAS We Ship Love page, Be sure you're on that so Pat L can approve you. Our POC will help hand out the boxes.
Enjoy sharing the love! Does your daughter have anything else she says everyone looks for in their boxes? My food co-op group has kids who are making cards and drawing pictures to send, too.

Hi I am on the MAS we ship love page and ready for address. I have 4 boxes put together and just need to add some blanket binding to the pillowcases for that homemade touch. I also need to get family and friends to write letters. Can I send magazines like exercise/sport magazines? Do you know if the sailors share their boxes? the reason I ask is that I only put 1 toothbrush and 1 full size toothpaste in the box, should I include more than one? Good idea to ask my daughter. Hi Katy--they did not ask for magazines on this month's adoption. If you have just a couple, I would go ahead and include them--but don't go out and buy any. Depending upon the number of boxes we get is whether or not they share.

Can anyone help me with the address label for the May Adoption - the red/white/blue, picnic, postcards and items from all states adoption. Since I am the only box from Rhode Island ( I think) I want to make sure it gets to them! I have a box almost ready to mail but I have never done this before and have no clue how to address it, what the address is, what form do I need, etc. Any help would be great, a picture of the address label would be better, etc.
