My husband left a week ago from yesterday, i got his form letter and his box (one yesterday and one today) . Seeing his handwriting on the form envelope, it made me feel closer to him even thought i wasn't near him, today i got his box and i was so happy but then all these emotions came over me and i can't stop crying. I miss him sooo much! And i know i will see him in a little over month but it just makes me so sad i can't hear him or see his smile. My friends have so many things going on in their own lives, I just feel so lonely. I'm doing my best to keep happy but i end up feeling so alone. Can you guys give me any advice, words of wisdom or encouragement. They said the first week was gonna me hard but this first week has felt like a century...

My fiance left for boot a couple of weeks ago, if you want to message and support each other, please inbox me. It's a very challenging time for me too but I'm finding empowerment through it.

best,

J

That sounds great! i will message you !

My fiance left for basic on May 7th and it was really hard. I still sometimes get really emotional but then I find something to do to keep my mind off of it. If you want you can message me and we can help each other out.

when my husband was there what helped me was writing him when I started getting upset. and I would write off to the side what time of day it was. I also would print off pictures to send to him. it was hard for me the whole time he was gone. I would be fine for a day but then I would just break down crying . I kept my husbands t-shirt that he sent in his box under my pillow it smelled just like him. I had a good count down system that helped me b/c it said what they were doing on that day they were there. come to find out it was 95% wrong lol but it still helped me.  getting in contact with other navy wives is really important. just make sure they are the wives that will strength your marriage and not tare it down with negative thoughts about marriage and/or the navy. the navy is a battle and you have to stay strong :)   and always remember your experience will be different than anyone elses, and it will be what you make of it. I asked so many people what I was in for and almost all of them gave me incorrect information only because it had been a few years since heir husbands were at basic. so be careful when talking to other people. also try to find girls whose husbands are the same rate. I remember girls telling me I would never see my husband , he would be on the ship all the time, id only see him for a could months out of the year. I was devastated.... thankfully they were all wrong lol.  if you have any questions I can try to answer them the best I can or point you in the right direction.....basic was the hardest thing I had gone through (so far) stay strong. and keep busy. I made my husband a quilt while he was gone... that helped a lot. :)

thank you! I have also commandeered his clothes and sleep in them all the time :) I just got a surprise call from my hubby yesterday! i was soooo happy to hear his voice! it really made my week :) My husband wanted me to knit him a beanie, when he comes back after A school it will most likely be in the early autumn! So that will kill some time! I'm gonna send him some pictures this week of us cause he asked me if i could :)

Send him lots and lots of letters. Tell him every little thing that pops into your mind. They really need pepping up in Boot Camp. I sent a letter every single day that my husband was gone. It was our life line. Also bring his phone to PIR and give it to him at the Airport if you can. It was so amazing to be able to get text messages and calls immediately after boot camp was over. I never feel as alone now with him in A school as I did then. Send him tons of fun things, little messages, picture collages that you can print on regular paper, small wallet size pictures were some of my husband’s favorite things I sent him, funny stories, cartoons, things like that. You should totally make him a beanie, I wish I had that skill I would be knitting my husband an entire wardrobe. Stay up to date on what he is going through in boot camp, it will make you feel connected to imagine what he is doing in his daily routine like when they do certain trainings and stuff like that. Overly plan graduation day, like down to the color of hair clips type of planning it really helps divert your attention. Join the group with his PIR date so you can know when people are getting calls and keep updated on what’s going on with his division. Honestly, I don’t have any amazing words of wisdom. It’s going to be hard, it was so much harder that I even imagined. I still cry daily and it’s been four months. Ha I’m tearing up right now just talking about it. Just hang in there and know that no matter what time continues forward and every day you get closer to seeing him again no matter how down you are feeling. Also as everyone always says stay busy. That does help ;-)

:'3 thank you sooo much! I just put together a collage of pictures of us, It made me super happy and i know it will help him out! i've been writing a letter to him every day. Do you know if your allowed to send S.R calling cards? Do they get to tell you what flight there leaving for after PIR? Really thank you for this comment! i love the support on this site!
