Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 243 and 244

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

I got two letters last week and am thrilled.  My SR sounds a little concerned about the run for her PFT but other than that she passed her academic class and she didnt get any personal "hits" on inspection day (although the division did as a whole :( )  Kaleigh's Gramma...I'm curious to hear what news your SR brings since I think they must be working together?

Mine is also concerned about her PFT...all of it except swimming which she passed the first time.  She passed her academics.  She was SIQ 5/20-21, so that set her back a bit, and she missed the first inspection because of it.  Can they get personal hits if they aren't there???  Not sure if she was there for the second inspection because she had to go back to medical for a follow-up, but she mentioned that the division got a lot of hits.  Said they had to scrub the grout.  She's also concerned about some discontent among the girls...I told her to stay under the radar and away from any trouble.  Yours and mine are both going to Pensacola.  Mine for an AD rating; what is yours going for?  I'm of the opinion that no news is good news!

My SR has also mentioned some discontent but I guess that's what you can expect from a bunch of young women under stress.  I also told mine the same thing "stay under the radar and do your work, you'll be fine".  She is going to Pensacola for AE school, not sure how long that training takes but from what I've read, they have some start time issues so it could be up to 6 months, lucky me!!

Hi everyone with female SR's.  My sister is a retired chief and she told me that she feels adjusting to boot camp is rougher for girls.  She also said she thinks inspections are rougher--hair being a main issue.  If the girls choose not to cut their hair short they must keep it up and if a hair pin is visible it is a problem.  Teamwork is also a newer concept for the girls unless they have been involved in team sports..you are giving great advice though--stand straight, keep their heads up and do their job and try to help the rest of the division along as much as they can...

I can see that being a problem.  Mine was very involved in High School (band and student council president) so she's had lots of exposure to teamwork.  She's also 20 so probably a little older than some of the other gals, not sure.  I don't think she's directly involved with the "drama" but she did briefly mention it.  She said she voluntered for "head duty" for quiet and extra hygeine time!  LOL.  She never cleaned the bathroom at home :)

Hi Cindyloohoo...  My SR is the one cleaning the head with your SR.  She told me that you were on this website all the time.  Apparently the two girsl are really hitting it off.  Mine has also been involved in many team sports and also hated the drama.  Jan

I forgot to ask earlier, was your SR's MEPS in Tampa?  She and my SR left on the same day.

Yes.  I wish we could post picts :) .  Did you meet everyone at the airport?  I stayed for a short time but they were all getting along so well I left so they could have some bonding time before they left.  That was the longest tearfilled ride back to Fort Myers EVER!!

You are probably in some of the pictures I took at the oath ceremony, or maybe your SR is...LOL!  If you took any pictures, I'm the heavy-set redhead wearing glasses and a rust-colored shirt.  My SR is the short one in the first row on the right facing the lectern.  I couldn't handle going to the airport.  Her mom went to the hotel for a few hours and had dinner with her on Sunday.

Ship 3 Div 243 Letter today---this is great!  it is a list of songs that members of the divison want--someone else wrote it so here is some of the list--maybe you will recognize songs?  Also written in silver sharpie..Wish you were here-pink floyd--Thinking about you--frank ocean--cable car, the fray--burn down the third bar--snow patrol--love me dead, ludo; dear God--avenged seven fold--carry on, avenged seven fold, beer, reel bigger, into the ocean, blue october er--18th floor--Daylight, maroon 5 and the phantom of the opera---my sr did write in that calls should be soon--I will get the lyrics out today--hope they enjoy them!

It seems my letters come Thursday's so my fingers are crossed.  Phone calls this weekend?  Yipee!  I've missed the past two so i'm definately due to hear her sweat voice.  That's marvelous about the music lyrics.  My SR is the Marching section leader (last I heard) so I wonder if they're using them in the cadences?

The first time he asked for songs it was more because they were missing their music--I sent him the songs he asked for and also sent some cadences I found at various websites and from some movies--my sister said that she loved the cadences especially for the male divisions because you could hear them coming forever--their deeper voices travel so much more.  One of the songs, Manic Monday by the Bangles was listed on a Waves website as one of her divisions favorite cadences...not sure how they did it but it sounds cool--so I sent it also--he hasn't really given me any feedback about what they are doing with things and he is being very careful about what he says and what he writes home--guess I'll learn more after graduation.  I have a Saturday-Sunday class this weekend so probably won't get to talk with him unless he calls early....
