It's coming very quick.  He is set to leave July 31st.  He seems calm, but I'm freakin out on the inside! He is graduating high school this month.  He's 18....anyone else have anyone that young?  I'm nervous but this is something that he really wants to do and we're so proud of him.

My daughter is leaving July 31st from CA! She is also 18 and graduating next Tuesday! We swing from being nervous to knowing that this is her choice! She also seems really calm with her decision!!!!!! I don't know whether that is a good thing or not! What job will your son be going into after BC?

My son will be E-PACT Fireman, which is an undesignated position (i think-trying to find out more info on this).  So I think he will stay in GL for several weeks after BC, then I think he will be assigned a ship, then A-school?  Not quite sure.  I am going to meet with his recruiter before he goes and get some more info.  My son is also very calm about his decision and can't wait to go.  We're a really close family and we're all nervous for him!!

My Son also left yesterday from CA. Were you @ LA MEPS?? We were, there were quite a few of us (8). I wonder if we saw each-other?? I am freaking out, I got the 10 sec call late last night saying that we'd receive his form letter in 3 weeks. Not what I was expecting, at all. I thought we would get it sooner :(

My daughter left Wednesday from LA MEPS! I also thought we would get PIR letter sooner :0( thinking it will be 09/27

Will you be going to the PIR? I wonder if our kids know each-other?

My son leaves the July 31st as well. From VA

How are you doing?

Here we go - 7 day count down! Did you son get back from his trip Dorothea?

Not yet and his sister's and I are far from happy.. He was to be back on Saturday. He thinks he is preparing us.. He is gonna want to leave by the time we are done with him tomorrow. He reports for DEP tomorrow. I guess I will find out if there are any changes after..  He is making his last week at home very hard : (  I really don't know what to do at this point . Enough about us. How and the heck are ya'll doing ?

Oh no! Sorry you are going through this! Hope he gets back soon so you can kick his butt! My daughter is at the recruiter right now so I am waiting for an update call. She is 2 hours behind me time wise so just have to wait a bit longer to hear how it went and whether there are any changes ! I know she is going again tomorrow for her DEP meeting and then a mentor meeting with the Chief. It's very stressful waiting - especially as we aren't with her but she sounds happy - upbeat but I think she is nervous! It must feel like the day has come too quick after all! Trying to keep busy! Reading the posts by moms who got their calls and kid in the box but I feel a bit removed from it - just trying to focus on one thing at a time - you could go crazy with the worry!

Exactly. You and I can stress next week together. Right now, I guess we stay focused and wait for any changes... We will have to let the other know everything that happens next week. Yours is leaving from CA and mine VA.... Goodness. We must remember the time difference.lol

She met with the recruiter all on track to go down to MEPS next Tuesday - stay overnight and leave the next day. No changes !
