I hope there are other 2013s on here! My son got his date this past Saturday, he is so stoked! Advanced Electronics, Submarines! Subs were not on his wish list, but he failed his depth of field test for flight crew on carriers. :( He listened to the jobs available and made an informed decision that he feels is best for his future. We are so proud of him! And Dad is especially pleased, since he was on subs! I am pleased he will be close to lots of family when he goes to Groton for Sub School (I was born there). Now he hopes his friend can push his entry date out from June 4th to the 5th.
Peace!
Annette

Congrats to your daughter! I wonder if A school is different for submariners, hubby did A school in Dam Neck, VA.
What are her job options in AE? Dennis is ready to leave yesterday, is your daughter anxious and raring to go? I am so excited for my son, and very proud. Where do you hail from?
Peace,
Annette
Hi Lisa!
We are currently in Southern California, where Dennis was born. Hubby grew up out here since the age of 2 (born in upper NY state). I was born and rasied mostly in CT, my Dad was Navy as well. I was born on the base in Groton, and met hubby when he was stationed there! He has been our since 82, did 6 years. My dad trained at Great Lakes as well, hubby went through San Diego, which is no longer a training facility.
Dennis had his first DEP meeting Tuesday, and is busy studying the START book.
For Dennis, he and his friend, niether being scholarly, realized they were going nowhere. Age 21, part time jobs, etc. And made the decision to do something bigger than them. I like the USN, less being shot at.
What is your daughter's reason or desire to join the Navy?
Peace,
Annette
Hi Lisa!
It's a sad situation when a person with a degree has so little opportunity. I hope she finds fulfillment in the service!
Dennis said that on this side of Christmas, June does not seem too far off. In a couple of months we will start collecting boxes for him to pack up his stuff and store it in the garage. His younger sister will inherit his room. And he is making a list of favorite foods he wants before he goes. And Mommy is trying not to be emotional yet! ;)
Peace,
Annette
Hi everyone. Just joined N4M today. My son, Pat, leaves for Boot Camp on June 4th. He is so excited. I am really happy for him. My husband passed away in January and I guess I have been so consumed with other things, that I didn't think I would be anxious about it, but now that it is so close, I am getting a little nervous. I know he will be fine and will do great, but I will be an empty nester for the first time. It will really be strange.
How are you doing, proudmom? This will be hard, I am sure. What is Pat's path in the Navy? Dennis actually leaves on the 3rd now instead of the 5th, but in truth he leaves home on the 2nd to head to MEPS, will spend the night in San Diego.
Annette
My son Jack is leaving June 5th, 2013. He is in Electronics and Subs - maybe they will meet each other. First child out the door, very anxious!
Hang in there Susan. It is a bit nerve-racking for sure! Dennis knows I will cry, but I am going to do my best to send him off with smiles, and save the crying for later. Where are you in CA?
Annette
El Segundo. Right near the MEPS so I was able to see him off on the bus! BTW got his address in the first letter last night so I can finally send my letters - so happy.
My son Robert also left on the 5th.
My son left on June 5, 2013 also, looking forward to box and phone call, I will also be happy to know what date the graduation will be.
