My Daughter Is Leaving June 17. Just Wondering What Most Of You Have Been Doing At Goodbye Time? Saying Goodbye At Recruiters Office, Meps, Or airport? Not Sure Which Will Be Easiest For My Daughter And She Hasn't Decided Yet. I Will Do Whichever One Works For Her, Although My Preference Is To Go With Her To RTC...Apparently That's Not An Option, Though, Haha

Were You All Able To Wait at The Gate? My Main Concern Is That Only One of Us Would Be Allowed To The Gate.

Our son left for BC on June 6th. We stayed at his hotel and then drove to MEPS. We decided to say our goodbyes at Meps(which was VERY difficult). He had his cell phone with him so he texted and even called us while we drove home. He took that time at the airport to call his sister, grandparents, and aunt to say goodbye. We texted back and forth all the way until his plane took off and picked it back up when his plane landed and he boarded the bus for RTC. About  two hours later we got that 10 second call to say "he made it".

Hi there.  My son leaves on the 17th as well.  He asked me not to go to the airport.  He also said if I go to MEPS, I am NOT allowed to get emotional, and if I am then I am not welcome there.  LOL.  We will decide this weekend for sure, but I truly want to see him sworn in.

NavyMomINx2, The no video at the swearing in might be a local thing. My son swore in today at Los Angeles, and there was no restriction on video.

I went to the airport with my son. The airline gave us a gate pass to sit with him at the gate.

Hello navy06...my daughter left yesterday...I went to her final swear in...they told parents to come in the room to see the swearing in...allowed us up front to watch...told us we could video and take pics...I did both..lol....I could have went to airport but my daughter didn't want me to so we said our good byes at maps station as she was getting on van to leave...she arrived at GL at 5:50pm. Illinois time I received the I'm here call at 9:50 Illinois time...she sounded nervous but OK.... can't wait for the letter with her address...I know I'll get the box first but I am not looking forward to receiving part of my daughter in a box...lol
