Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 293 and 294

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

I am in Jacksonville, fl anyone else in this division from the area?

I am in Fleming Island, FL which is just south of Jax in Orange Park. My son will be attending A school in Pensacola. What about your child?

I am on southside blvd not too far from avenues mall. My name is Jill. My son is going to A school right there in Great Lakes.

my daughter will be going to a school in great lakes in august her pir is 8-11-13

My name is Kristie. My husband is working on booking a hotel room and getting us flights for PIR. Using either Delta or Southwest I think. We plan to fly in on Thursday and leave Sunday. Since your son will stay there for A school you will probably get to hang out with him on Saturday. From what I am reading on N4M my son will fly out on Saturday to his A school. Are you planning on attending the PIR? If so, have you made any reservations, hotel/flight, yet?

Nice to meet you Kristie.  Yes I am attending.  I have reservations made at Navy Lodge for Thursday thru Sunday also.  However, was thinking about looking into other hotels since Navy Lodge doesn't offer shuttle service to PIR.  So I was kind of bummed about that.  I called them last night and they told me they do have a list of taxis that they suggest in place of no shuttle.  I was looking into Southwest Airlines also as early as I can get on Thursday out of JAX.  I will definitely be at PIR, even if I am hitchhiking and pitching my own tent, LOL.

new to this.. my daughter is on ship 14 div 294 .pir is 8-9-13 I live in illinios anyone else?

Hi fellow Navy Mom's.  This is my second time in one year that I had a son join the Navy... My first son joined last August and my second son is at Boot Camp now (ship 14)...Even though this is my second time through, it doesn't get any easier.  I will be glad to answer any questions that anyone might have.  You should have all received "the box" by now, you know, the one that made you cry as you unpacked their belongings.  I always searched pockets and all through the box looking for a note or anything that he sent to me. (But nothing)... Also, you should have received the "Form Letter" that has address and all important information.  I have not received a letter or phone call yet.... BUT, they get to write letters on Sunday mornings, the letters get mailed Monday's and I (in the past) received the actual letter on Thursdays (which is tomorrow)... so I am hopeful that I get something then. Also, some of us will be receiving phone calls very soon, usually towards the end of the week.  Some get special phone calls home if they win a challenge or do something above and beyond...Time will go by quickly, and there is nothing like that feeling when you first see them.  I look forward to chatting with you all...

Yes, he left from MEPS that day as well!  Sounds like we have a lot in common.  This is my oldest son (Carl) who left on June 11th.  He will be turning 21 while at Boot Camp.  My youngest son (Kyle) left last August.  He is 19.  I am looking forward to talking and keeping in touch with you throughout this second "go-round".  I haven't received any letters or phone calls yet either.. Hopefully one will coming my way soon!  I bet you are just as proud of your son's as I am.

Kerry, I too have two boys in the navy, Currently, our boys are on the same ship at Boot Camp.  I remember getting letters from oldest on Thursdays as well...however, I didn't get one today :/  Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.

That is so awesome to know that you have two sons also in the Navy!  Not to mention, one on the same ship as mine.  I didn't receive a letter either... I was so looking forward to it!  Hopefully, the next 6 weeks go by quickly. Where is your other son stationed?  My is in Oceania, VA doing Air Traffic Controlling.  We try to travel to visit him every two months, but with two in the Navy now, I don't know if that will be possible.  My son has requested vacation to come to the Great Lakes to attend Graduation on August 9th.  I have arranged for a photographer to take pictures of them both in the uniforms, and of course a family photo too.  The boys thought it was a stupid idea, but I told them it was something that "I" wanted them to do.  lol  I don't know that an opportunity will arise again where they are together in their uniforms.  Are you staying at the Navy Lodge?

I believe I'm staying at the Gateway.  My dad is retired Air Force, so with my mom coming with my husband and me, we'll be able to stay there.

I think its a fabulous idea to get your two boys' pictures as well as a family picture....play that mom card!

Have you gotten your first letter yet?  I got mine last Wednesday.  I sure hope I get another one this week...
