Good Day everyone,

I received form letter on Tuesday.  There are 4 names listed, I have read on here because of the amount of DIV they are only allowed 3.  What will happen to the fourth?  There were some items that were scratched through the form letter.  Something about former military?

My older 2 kids, myself, and my daughter's grandpa are on the list.  How do we decide who won't be able to see this phenomenal celebration.

Suggestions welcome and thanks

Yes, they are only three guests allowed to this PIR, the fourth cannot attend. Items that were scratched out are probably things that pertained to how it used to be for PIR. Starting in November things started to change with guests, numbers and who need to be on the list., It was finalized starting with the PIRs in January. Active duty and retired military did not have to be on the guest list to attend PIR, now everyone three years old and older must be on the list. Anyone who is not on the list cannot attend, and there is no place for them to wait during the ceremony at RTC.

Deciding who will be on the list is ultimately your SRs decision, but you may want to figure out amongst yourselves who should be on the list and then let your SR know. They will have the opportunity to change the list as the one you received is not the final list that is used for PIR.

There is now live streaming of the ceremony, and after PIR you all can spend time with your sailor.

Received a phone call today from my son. They have not yet told them that they are allowed only three. He also told me that if you make friends with a shipmate who has less than three, you can add your guests to their lists (I'm pretty sure this is officially frowned upon, but it is an option.)

Thank you for the information

Here are the posts from the RTC about adding names to the guest list that are not your own family and friends. Yes, it is "frowned upon", and is not an option. We have heard if a Sailor has a name on their list that "doesn't belong" they can/will loose their liberty PIR weekend. Don't have your Sailors break the "rules".

These were copied from the RTCs FB page in October.

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command : I am new to the navy family and this question seems to come up a lot. I know that the Policies are changing for PIR. My Question is this: If someone only has 2 people that can come to PIR can the SR invite 2 other people and put them on the list if it is another SR that is in his or her DIV and SHIP? Please clarify this as this seems to be the hot topic. Thank you very much for responding.

2 people like this.
U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command Ma'am, while this is something that some recruits may have chosen to do, they are instructed not to do so. It is against RTC policy, and compromises safety procedures that we have put in place. If we are able to determine that guests do not belong to the recruit they are placed under, they will not be allowed access to PIR. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of the Navy's only boot camp!

So glad that they are now doing the live streaming of PIR, that was not an option for either of one of my son's PIR. It is hard to pick who goes and who does not. Adding names under someone elses name can get them in trouble, there was a time when it was encouraged but not anymore. I would not recommend it at all.

There is nothing worse than paying out money to attend PIR and then to find out that because of something they have done they do not get any liberty to spend with loved ones. In my youngest son's division 6 young men decided to do something the night before PIR and they lost all liberty and were placed on hold, it was so sad.
