The USS Stockdale is an Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer. They are on an 8-10 month deployment in the Arabian Gulf.

The Chaplain was previously on the USS Higgins when we adopted them. He was so impressed with the adoption that he submitted this adoption request for the USS Stockdale. We can't let him down, Mommies!

There are 252 males and 52 females in the crew.

We will not be sending pillowcases this month as they have already received them from another organization.

Both the Chaplain and the Command Master Chief have asked crew members what they would like to receive. Some said candy, toiletries, snacks, games, and magazines. But most said they want "anything from HOME."  So Molly Moms, let's do what we do best.......send these heroes some love from home!

Shipping dates are July 22 to July 25.

READY, SET, GO!!!!

Pam & Pat thanks for the update I was reading all the way down and wondering individual boxes or group.  I really enjoy the group boxes it is so fun to shop for all kinds of things knowing there will be someone on the ship that will like it & it may be just the item they were hoping to get.

So off to shopping my son will be in town this month & we will be pretty busy, but I'm pretty sure with my son's help I can get 2 boxes out this month.

Fun fun fun

Looks like I have a little bit of anything or something to send, including a few notes.

I'm going to send along a medium box of things from MA for any sailors from the Commonwealth.  They were left over from the May adoption because they didn't fit into one box and I got completely "derailed" at shipping time.  But I will try to get another box together of fun things.  Are they allowed to have puzzles?  Or are they too messy for rough seas?

Did anyone else know that if you submit a letter to your post office you can ask for magazines that have come and cannot be forwarded?  It is a great way to get FREE, current magazines!  If you live in a small town like I do, you might have to write a letter to the nearest PO with a postmaster.  You have to offer to pick them up because they won't deliver them to you.  Just an FYI.

Donna when I go into the post office I just ask-they usually have a bin in the back..-they are more than happy to hand them on over!....I go through the bin @ the PO..only take what I would use!

Hi Mommas, Okay, 1 week to the start of shipping!! Time to "take it up a notch" as Emeril would say!! There have been 2 packing parties but this is a big group!!!!

READY, SET, GO!!!!! Let's get packing!!

And would you please post here how many boxes you are sending? I would like to be able to give Master Chief Rob an idea of what to expect. (I think he is going to be surprised at what "Chappy" got started!)

Thanks Mommas, you all ROCK!!!!

I'll have a box of toiletries for men, one for female items and one of food/snacks.

Thank you!

Got three boxes filled and more stuff coming in from my friends!

Thank you, Mommas!!!

I'll have a box to share of snacks and fun items.  Sorry it couldn't be more.

FYI - Michael's (craft store) has most their summer things for 70% off, plus a 25% coupon on most things.  I got some of the balloons to blow up to make the animals, and my favorite was a little first aid kit - $0.58 plus the discount.  I also watch the back to school sales and get the pens/pencils when the are really cheap and then put them in packages throughout the year with cards/game books, etc.   I also got some flip flops at Michaels - $0.72pair. Sometimes are groups request these to wear as shower shoes.  Getting ready to hit up another Michaels!!
