Unlike 99% of the moms and loved ones on here I don't have a lot to look forward to..no I have arrived safely phone call...no kid in the box...no letters...no PIR preparations to make..nothing, its heartbreaking! Unfortunately my son and I haven't talked in almost 2 years and now he is in GL @ BC.  I tried many many times and ways to reach out to him before he left but received no response...At this point all I can do is hope that this will be a good experience for both of us and that the lines of communication will soon reopen between him & I...I miss him terribly and think about him every minute of every day.

Sorry for the "debbie downer" post but I am so grateful for this site and group...reading everyone's positive posts and experiences has helped me get through this past week.

Heather, can you write to your son?  This is going to be a life changing experience for him and maybe this will be the time to reach him.  Write him positive and encouraging letters.  Let him know that you are there.  Let him know that you love him and that you are proud.  Don't stop even if you do not hear back.  Pray.  Breathe.  Don't give up.

I will be able to write him IF my ex-husband gives his contact information to me as promised...Thanks for the positive words..I will never give up I am his MOM :)

Heather, Please do not feel like you are ALL ALONE. You are not . On the Deppers website I stated a vent session, and let me tell you , it was like a bomb going off. So many mom's and dad's sit at their computer and make it all sound like peaches and cream. It's not , and my vent session proved as much.

My son and I have had some rough times here as of late. He leaves on the 31st and has been at the beach with friends  and he wont be home until the weekend. I just want to yell at him " WHAT ABOUT ME " , I need time with him. It's like pulling teeth sometimes. So , with that, I have told him " when they pull your wisdom teeth at bc think of me and the pain you have caused" lol , we both laughed.

I know people can adopt a sailor , But I can adopt you ( a navy mom ) and you can join me in my journey. My son would love another mom to get mail from and to write to. I know it is not the same. Just give it a little more time. Don't feel alone. Your NOT !!!!

They don't understand what this does to us...they don't understand that this opens a whole new door of mom worries and fears.  I tried very hard to mend our damaged bridge before he left but his dad has done such a number on him that I knew i would have no chance until he was at boot camp and he was at his lowest point...I figure at right about that time when he can't take no more then he remember  and think about me.  I would love that...thanks for the invite..Thanks :)

Bless your heart, Heather.  I can't even imagine.  I will be praying that this time will soften your SR's heart and he will realize he needs to mend things with you.  My heart hurts for you.  We are here for you any time you want or need to talk. I agree with Jakes mom, maybe it would be a good time to write to him.  I have heard boot camp is a life changing experience.  I'm counting on it for my son and I'll be praying it also is for yours.

I am praying for the same thing...he is a hurt & angry young man and I think he feels as though I abandoned him which I would NEVER do...I will write to him every day starting as soon as I get the address...Good luck to you & yours and I will keep both you and him in my thoughts and prayers :)

Heather, your post breaks my heart. These boys change so much in boot camp, I agree with jakes mom, if you can write, do! My son and I did not have any issues before he left but he said my letters and encouragement made him think about Everything up until the day he left here. He has opened up even more since. I hope and pray this journey can lead you and your son back to each other. You are not alone!!!

I am hoping that being away from his dad and out on his own so to say will give him the perspective he needs to reach out to me or be receptive to my reaching out to him.  Our relationship may not ever be what it used to be but right now I will take whatever I can get.  Thank you

With him being away from his dads influence I pray he lets that guard down!!! Moms are the writers to these kids in BC. I think as his shipmates get their letters he will appreciate your efforts!

I pray for the same thing....and his dad has already told him he wont be attending PIR so I would love even more to be there for him that weekend but at this point I think that would be pushing it a little...maybe things will change in the next couple of weeks and I will have that opportunity.

You never know, by the 6th week of training, he may be ready to put you on that list!! After 6 or 7 weeks of being on that base, with the possibility of some free time looming after PIR, he may want you there with him.

And you will all know if that happens because I will be shouting from the roof tops....  :)
