For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Feeling Blah
Oh what an off day it is...it is raining and dreary here in New England, I guess it matches how I am feeling right now.
I am sitting here at work trying to get my mind off things yet somehow my thoughts keep drifting back to my SR...I finally got his ship & div and mailed out my first letter yesterday with a self addressed stamped envelope and some phone cards. Thankfully I am becoming a good hound dog, because the ex isn't telling me anything which is really making this that much harder for me.
Maybe if I write him another letter I will feel better...but then what do I say without sounding like a "desperate" mom...oh well, I am sure I will come up with something positive and encouraging even though I am down and out =/
On a positive note a lot of families received their form letters yesterday so I now have fellow shipmates to go on this journey with :)

If you don't know what to write, send him a letter with a note where he can just answer you by filling in the blanks,. My son loved these, as they were quick and didn't require much effort when he was exhausted. there are templates on Navy for moms site.

My son cracked up with the fill in the blank letters. If you lke military jokes online there are alot of jokes you can send as well.

Just send a chatty letter with "news of the day"...trust me you will NOT sound desperate. Reiterate how proud you are and that "that the future is so bright you gotta wear shades." Those letters are lifelines and after having RDCs in their faces, a note from Mom REALLY helps! Is he into sports? Send news about his teams. I wrote a letter a day to my son. He still has them wrapped in a ribbon and has said they helped him to keep going!

How did you find your son's address? My Ex is the same way and to get my daughters address from him will be next to impossible. So I either have to find it on my own or wait until hopefully she writes me.

Thankfully I have an older son and he was able to get a few tidbits for me to start my search with...the rest just kind of fell into place from there...
Do you have a strained relationship with your daughter is that why you aren't sure she will write you? I only ask because I have not spoken to my son in almost 2 years, not for lack of trying but because he had some negative influences...and now he is GL and I don't know what to expect...

Bless your heart, Heather7274. Still praying for you and that your SR's heart will be softened and that he'll realize what a loving and caring mother you are and want to have a relationship with you. Buy a funny card and mail to him, just something to let him know you're thinking about him. My son is in his 4th week in BC, seems like his 40th, and I have written every day. I just write about simple things going on with his sister or the dogs, just things that happen daily. I know you're in a different situation then most of us. Keep your head up. We're here for you. :)

Its a struggle but I have faith that when this is said and done something will be different...hopefully we will be at least communicating. I think what is bothering me the most is the thought of him being alone at and after PIR...who knows maybe something will change between now and then and I will be able to go....it is a week before my birthday and oh what a birthday present that would be :)
