Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Feeling Blah
Oh what an off day it is...it is raining and dreary here in New England, I guess it matches how I am feeling right now.
I am sitting here at work trying to get my mind off things yet somehow my thoughts keep drifting back to my SR...I finally got his ship & div and mailed out my first letter yesterday with a self addressed stamped envelope and some phone cards. Thankfully I am becoming a good hound dog, because the ex isn't telling me anything which is really making this that much harder for me.
Maybe if I write him another letter I will feel better...but then what do I say without sounding like a "desperate" mom...oh well, I am sure I will come up with something positive and encouraging even though I am down and out =/
On a positive note a lot of families received their form letters yesterday so I now have fellow shipmates to go on this journey with :)

I feel dreary and sad as well! In NE also! This weather does something to the soul! Yuck. Your post is right on I just wrote a letter as well this really didn't help either.My SR has been gone 3 weeks and it is a hard day today! Try to keep busy! Hope this makes you feel less alone in this journey! -

Heather -- I agree with the other moms...just write. I wrote nearly every day, even though I had shoulder surgery while my son was gone on my right shoulder. I would speak letters into my cell phone's email, then email myself and cut and paste the letters with one hand on my desk top so I could mail them. Sometimes I would just make goofy cut and paste stuff on the computer, just saying I was loving him, praying for him and how proud of him I was. Other days, I wrote long newsy letters. I'm sure now that he's just graduated A-school at Goose Creek that he really appreciated those letters. Hang in there...it's much worse for us mom's than it is for our sailor's. They are busy and excited about what they are doing.
