My son will be leaving from Pennsylvania on 7/16 for Great Lakes. Is there anyone else that has a recruit leaving on the same day?

My daughter left Syracuse on 7/16 for GL .
My son left 7/16. We are from Elk Grove, CA (outside of Sacramento) )still can't hold it together. I think leaving him Monday at the hotel was more difficult than the final farewell after watching him get sworn in. What an emotional two days. Who am I kidding. The emotions haven't stopped. I tried to give my son and his girlfriend enough time for themselves before he left but now I'm realizing that I should have been more selfish. I miss him terribly to the point that my heart hurts.
I cleaned his room and did pretty well. The funny thing is that it was cleaning out the fridge that threw me over the edge. He always rolls his eyes and says I never keep things the same way. Well this time I did. I think my pride and excitement for him blocked some of my real feelings but then I hit the limit and I lose all control.
He left me Tuesday as a 17 year old wonderful young man. When I see him next I'm sure I will be amazed at the man he has become.

I got "The box" on Friday. I opened it and my son had written little notes on the flaps. I unpacked all of his stuff, separating the papers from the trash and putting the clothes on the floor. I have a toddler daughter and she walked up to me as I was sorting through the box and she said, "Bubby?" I told her "These are Bubby's things" and she grabbed a shirt and a pair of his shorts and took off to take them to his room. I had to stop her and tell her that Bubby is not here, he is in the Navy. I held it together until that point. She brought the clothes back and looked so crestfallen. She keeps "calling" him on her toy phone and has these incredibly long jibberish conversations. She misses him alot. I am just waiting on the letter and his first phone call. I hope he is doing well.

Hi ladies. Curiosity got the best of me so I called my son's recruiter. He said he is in Ship 13 Div 348 with a PIR date of 9/13. I know this information might not be correct so I'll hold off until I receive the form letter to send him my letters. But I was happy to get this little bit of information!

adm402 has ship 13 Div 348 as well check with her too. I hope mine gets that too..that will be a great meet and greet for us!

Laurie

Bugsmum, Did you get a phone call yesterday? I think our kids are in the same ship/div.

Yes, I did get a call around 3PM. It was great to hear from him. He's doing well. I was just a little shocked that they didn't start actual training until Friday and were only on Day 1-2 on Saturday. Did you get a call?

1-2 will be Monday. Although there is some training on the weekend, Saturday and Sunday are Hold Days as far as DOT. He only had 2 or 3 extra P-Hold days, so that really isn't very many. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC for more on DOT.

I got "the box" today as well, fedex tried to deliver it Friday but I was not home so they could not leave it. I didn't know that you had to leave a note for them to leave it since they always leave packages without a signature. In fact I saw the truck in front of my driveway as I was coming up the street and had to chase him down, he was glad I did and I was too! Unfortunately no secret notes:( Can't wait to hear from my daughter to hear how things are going. I think about and pray for her several times a day and also for all the other men/women there as well. I am so proud of these young people and what they are willing to do for all of us! Did you know that the Navy motto is Semper Fortis? It means courageous always and I am putting it at the end of each of the letters that I am writing to my daughter.

Can't wait to hear the date for PIR!

May God bless and keep each one of them.

My son left from the Cincinnati area 7/16.Got the box, waiting for the form letter.

Hello Ladies!!

I have not gotten the box yet!! UGH!!! I've been home and patiently waited so now I guess I'll start bugging my local FedEx. I am not doing too badly since I started writing him letters everyday just chatting about whats going on. He'll pass out when he gets his first batch! I'm projecting a Sept 6th or 13th PIR date and have made plans for both just to get the ball rolling. The counting only Fridays is keeping me going..what a big help that piece of advice was!! And you know what Tomorrow is Friday!! Yep just countin them down. hugs to all and hope things are well with everyone. Prayers for our kiddos.

Laurie

Hey Laurie,
Did you get the box today? You definitely should have received it by now! And, you are right! It IS Friday. :) Have you joined the Facebook group yet? There is a lot of activity going on there. If you are on FB search for the PIR 09-13-13 TG 44 group.
