Today has been so hard. I have tried to hide my feelings, but I can't stop the overwhelming feelings. My son decided a long time ago this was his career choice. I have store by him and provided support and encouragement. I truly do want him to be happy. But today, I can't stop the tears. I have one week left with him and I am trying to be strong. I keep thinking how much this will change our family. I worry about his younger siblings and how this will affect them. They are 8 and 9 years younger and love their big brother so much. I know I need to stay strong and refrain from crying especially when he leaves. But I do not know how I can prevent this. I feel like I am on an emotional roller coaster. What is the best way to get through this? How do you let them go? How do you say goodbye. The thought of no communication for 3 weeks is hard. One last question....how many weeks do you count out on the calendar to plan for graduation....I have heard various things. I was told 9 weeks (one week of processing and 8 weeks of actual boot camp. But I also heard 7 to 9. My husband has to plan
His vacation out as soon as possible to get approved. Thanks and I am so glad I found this forum because I need lots of support to get through this.

Got our " kid in a box" today. I didn't think it would get to me but as soon as I saw the Fed Ex truck my stomach dropped. I was so happy and so sad at the same time. The rolled up pant legs did make me smile. He had also tucked a little note in his pocket for us. He said he was excited to get started. Can't wait for the form letter so I can send his letters.
Yes, FedEx came today at my house too but I am in Texas on a business trip. They would not leave because no one was there over 21. It was just my younger boys with the babysitter. So I am so bummed. I am hoping my husband can leave a note for it to be left on the porch. Crossing my fingers. I noticed on PIR 9/20 that a few moms received the letter. Hopefully we get ours this week. I am so happy your SRs box came!!! One step closer to hugging our SRs again!
My son left 7/24 and we got "the box" today:( can't wait for the form letter.

I am still away on a business trip but my husband and little boys got the box today.  It meant so much to the little boys.  Even though I regret not being there to get the box, I was so happy the boys got to open it.  They needed that so much!  The only thing they said missing was big brother (our SR).  So sweet!

I was gone too when it came but in kinda glad that I was. It was sitting on the counter. Makes me kinda sad. Sigh....
We got the form letter today! His writing is so much neater! He is in ship 009 div 357. PIR is 9/20. We are already making our hotel reservations! So glad I can start sending his letters.
