Hi all! Have a son leaving August 6th. His older brother left July 23 rd. I want you guys to know that after my son being at boot for a week now, I feel a lot more calmer and accepting of the "new normal". It's appositive transition, and I'm proud to be a Navy mom!

My daughter leaves August 7 for BC.  I have become a blubbering idiot in the past week!  She is my baby and only 17!  She will spend her 18th birthday in BC.  I've been on this site daily, trying to get myself and my daughter ready for what is to come.  I appreciate all of the information that is posted here and more than that, the passionate mothers that continue to post long after their child(ren) have completed their committments.  Any advice that you have will be welcomed and appreciated.  Just can't stop crying knowing that it is so close...  She depped in November - I should be prepared, right?

Whew! August 6th is right around the corner. Too busy to freak out. Cleaned out the last few things from my son's apartment today then stopped by and saw the recruiter one last time. Having his "Anchors Away" Ole' taco bar party on Saturday. Best news this week, he finally picked up his college transcript ( nothing like leaving it until the last minute) and he had double the credits needed to get E2!!! I'm so excited for him, all the time and money for school actually paid off! Just a few little things left to tuck in his wallet and off he goes. He's a little shell shocked right now, no more planning, I keep reminding him that he'll do great and to stay positive, many of the boys going are the same age as his younger brother so I'm guessing that he'll take on the role of big brother to those boys and give him some purpose. Deep breath moms, we're almost ready to start the next phase of this adventure!

ok Now I'M starting to freak!!!!!! We hand over Connor to his recruiter for the last time then off to Harrisburg, Pa. will leave Aug 6 to Great Lakes

I just feel like I'm forgetting something.....I just wish others were leaving with Connor I  know he will be fine this is his dream I still Remember the day he was born now he won't be with us for his 18th which it even harder.

Sharone... Check the list of things to do on the website as well as the last hours. It helps remember. Make sure he has a deposit slip for account. I put band-aids in my SR's wallet. Stamps, Calling Card. SS card, ID...And a whole bunch of love.. Slip a note in his wallet. My son found his while setting at MEPS. I hope this helps ya a little bit.

For Sharone: hang in there...my son is getting picked up Monday as well for ship out on august 6.. The hardest part is the waiting. We just had a lovely family dinner with all his favorite food. Enjoyed each other, and had some laughs. Just. Think of it as they are going away to college. It really does get better! My first son left two weeks ago. He is fine. We raised them to be fine!!!
Any other Colorado moms here? My son left today with 4 others, but I was the only mom at the airport. Nice looking group of kids. Can't wait to see them again in 9 weeks. This is going to be exciting!

Hi! My  son leaves  the 13th.After talking with his recruiter I think we are going to say our goodbyes the night before at the hotel.I have 2 other sons starting school this week and don't want them to miss school, and she said it's hard saying bye in front of a bunch of people...I'll probably break down and embarrass him.He is only 18 and has never been away from home more than a week,so I'm not handling this well. He told me to stop worrying, because he's not.He said Jesus is taking the wheel on this...lol...I'm going to miss him so much!! :(

My son leaves the 13th too.  Where is your son leaving from?  Mine will fly out of Fargo, ND.

I went to hotel and we ate dinner at restaurant
He had a complimentary meal
I stayed until his 10pm cerfew
I said good night
But not good bye
I will go to MEPs in the morning
So my girl gets sworn in in a few hours this came so fast. She was quite at supper last night. This sure isn't what I planned for her . But so proud of her choice. She too has a birthday while she is gone. It will be her 21 Chuckle chuckle sure its not how she planned it. I keep telling her she's got this and god has her. I just need him to help me get her off and not fall apart till after. Best of luck all!
I'm at MEPs
2 hours early
Andre is being processed
I'm grabbing a coffee and Will check in at 8:30
