momtom1932, our son is at BC right now in Ship 14 Div 352.  By any chance is your sailor in that training group that graduates on 9/20?

Hi, my son does not go to bc until this Tuesday 8/6, the day before his 22 birthday!

Well it's possible they will still be in nuke school together, I can't imagine they have that many different training classes, but you never know.

PrayingNavyMom...my son in in Ship 12, Div 359, and he also graduates on 9/20.  I think our boys will be heading to Charleston together for A school.

Awesome! Glad to hear from you, about this! Have you heard much from your son? How are you holding up with him being gone?

I have not received anything from my son other than "the box" and the form letter with his address and graduation date.  He shipped out to basic on July 24th so I am hoping a letter or phone call might come in a week or so.  All I can do is wait.  My recruit is my oldest son of three and the first to leave the house.  Each day I am doing better, but I still shed my tears and miss him so.  Love your username, by the way.  I've been doing a lot of praying for my recruit lately.

My son shipped out the 17th of July. Got the form letter beginning of last week, I think, then he called his girlfriend Saturday morning around 8:00. So maybe your son will get to call this week-end!!! I haven't received any mail from him, I'm hoping to hear something soon!
I have another son, his twin, that leaves for the Air Force in Oct., so he was the first to leave the nest and it was and still hard! It's getting somewhat better. I keep on telling myself, what did I expect, him at home the rest of his life? I think I did, think that.
Truly, they are in God's hand, so grateful for that! I will keep you in my prayers, and hope you hear from him soon!!!:)

Fingers crossed mine will also start A School around mid-October.

My son left on 8/6, I was surprised how fast the box came.  It contained some paperwork in it that seemed odd, not a form letter with any real info on it, looked like something that didn't really belong in there.  Anyway, waiting to get the letter with the PIR date and his address so that I can start writing to him.

my son graduated bc 8/16 and is at Goose Creek.  He is complaining about heat & humidity, but is generally MUCH happier than he was at bc!  They had a large Nuke class in his PIR, so they opted to have the married ones start A school a week later than the others.  Your SR will get his job assignment (MM, EM, etc) around week 4.  They will receive an informational sheet with the week by week schedule, leave, & liberty rules.  Each liberty allows them to go further from the base, however, I don't think my son will be able to go more than 350 miles by Thanksgiving.  We live in Missouri!  I will dig that form up & see if I can give you more detailed & accurate information over the weekend.

thanks Nukemom, then maybe I should plan to visit him there?

momtom - look in the discussions - I "bumped" the discussion on "Your Sailor's Arrival at Goose Creek" up to the top .  It talks about liberty, etc and I believe it says they can travel up to 400 miles.  I would still make sure your sailor confirms this though!
