For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Sheilam, since your future Sailor has a contract for Aircrew Survival Equipmentman (PR), join AIRCREW, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!, and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola and check out Airman Family and Friends. The Rating Information Card for PR can be found athttps://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/pr.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend once you get the form letter.

My Son leaves September 30th for bootcamp, I too find myself saying this is the last time he will... or he wont need this anymore... my other Sons are already calling dibs on things in his room "furniture" which made me cry and was my first realization that my son will never live under my roofe again "Gasp" Sigh... I am trying to be ready But My Heart is no where near ready for whats to come

I let my oldest daughter take my sons bedroom furniture with her to furnish her new college appartment. It was so beaten up by him over the years and has no montary value, plus he didnt care, but still it was so weird emptying out his room like that. We are refurnishing it as a guest room for the small visits that will become the way of life for us so soon. We are down to two weeks of living together under the same roof. Breaks my heart but still so darn proud of him.

Today my son started cleaning out his room and giving all his old "Army" stuff away to our 8 year old son. Our home is a mixture of excitement, anxiety, sadness, melancholy, and joy all wrapped up into one. We have much to be grateful for, especially that we have a close and loving family. This makes his parting all the more bittersweet. I am grateful he has direction in life and a calling he is going after. When my first son left for bootcamp, I cried off and on for two weeks and lived in a sort of fog. It did get better after that. However, every time he visits home and then leaves again - the fog returns for a day or so. I am thankful for this site and all the wisdom and support! I was just sharing with a friend today how grateful I was for this site during my first son's bootcamp experience.

So will the 8 year old be your last child at home? With my daughter away at college and now my son leaving for the Navy, I am so thankful we have a 6 year old that will still be with us. She will be a delightful distraction during this time of transition. Dont get me started on how it breaks my heart that my son will miss out on her growing up over the next several years. My older children are very close to her. However, with Skype and Facechat I am sure we will be calling him whenever we can when he is out of bootcamp. Plus if he is stationed state side for awhile I am going to try my best to visit him.

Yes, our 8yo son is our last child. Sounds like we have spaced our children similarly. We homeschool so I get to spend a lot of time with him. (We home schooled the other 2 also). My older sons are afraid I'm going to turn their brother into a "dork" LOL. And, yes, we will visit. It's just super expensive going all over the country with both boys in different places! I melted in church this morning just thinking about how empty the house will seem and dreading the thought of cleaning out his room. I think it will be helpful for me to clean it out though - a sort of acceptance on my part. I know it will get easier as time goes by and our family adopts a new rhythm.

My son leaves September 5, 2013 - we just found out Friday (his date was moved up from December 24). I now have less than 2 weeks to process and prepare for his departure. I am very excited for him and he is eager and ready. He will be in the nuclear program. Feeling...happy...sad...nostalgic...
