My son is about to leave for GL - one week from today.  So I am new to the Navy Mom life and new to this site but it is a wonderful support system.  We live in North Texas and I thought it would be nice to see if there are any other moms in the area as well.  :)

Lol - that is too funny!  We will keep in touch and all plan a day that we can get together at somewhat centralized location for everyone.  I don't mind driving wherever!  I think that it's really important to have this support system and be able to just hang out and talk with eachother.  The next two weeks will go by quickly and will be here before you know it!  My Boot Camp adventure is just about to begin... Keep the stories and info coming!!  It helps to hear how each family is doing!

Hello to all north texas moms,  Would someplace in Arlington be a kind of centeral point for us?  I am south of Cedar Hill and do not mind driving.  We will just have to find a starbucks or somewhere to meet.  How about Saturday, or Monday.  I know a lot of people work, I am off for the summer so it does not matter to me.  Someone offer suggestions  and we will get this thing going.   Oh, whoever wrote about eating cornbread with a fork???? How funny, wonder what they would think of cornbread and milk in a cup with a spoon??   Bet they do not eat cornbread dressing either.  They are missing out!!

That was my son! Lol, I thought that was so funny! I'm also off for the summer, but won't be able to do anything til after my son's 8-9 PIR. Unfortunately, I have some medical issues that I am cramming in ct scans and dr appointments next week! My youngest and I are heading out early to visit relatives in Chicago. Arlington would be good for me though! I'm just east of Dallas.
Well my son left today for the hotel... I will go to see him swear in tomorrow morning and that will be it. It's been a difficult weekend but after tomorrow I will have more time available to get together so let's plan a day. Also Tanya, I live in Justin off 407 and we are in Highland Village ALL the time! I know that Target and Starbucks very well! Lol :) I'm thankful we found this group and can actually get together ladies. As moms, not everyone understands what we are going through.

Let me know the day and I will meet y'all.  It will be fun.  Christina,  If you are going to Dallas MEPS get ready for a possible long day.  We got there at 7:30 and my son did not swear in until 12:15 or so.  He got on the bus at 1:00.  Listen, they really need us there for them.  C was so tired cause they get them up at about 4:00 or 3:30 to leave the hotel.  Take lots of pictures and try not to cry too much.  I was a mess that day,  I did not want to make C feel bad but I know you know what i mean.  So bring kleenex, eyedrops, water and something to snack or eat.  They will have a lunch for the recruits.  You probably will not see this, but we will talk soon!

Omg it has been a crazy day. It wasn't too bad at MEPS - we were there for a few hours. My son was very grumpy from lack of sleep already... We took pics and I held it together until I got in the car!! Flooded Dallas! Lol, but really it has been SO hard!! I miss him a lot. He took the bus to the airport at 1:15 PM for a 3:20 flight, arrived in Chicago at 6:00 PM and got on the bus from there at 7:30 but I still haven't heard from him since then... I know it will get easier but right now my heart hurts. :(
Thanks! Need those hugs! :) Haven't received his box yet... Still missing him so much. I hope you are all doing good! We still need to get together soon.

Hi. I'M from Garland and my daughter left today for the hotel.  It's been really hard letting go.  Tomorrow we will see her off at Meps.   Anyone else have someone leaving on 8/26 for GL?

remie10: We have all been where you are right now (as you can see from my posts above) and it is very difficult letting go, we know exactly what you are going through!  We took my son to the Hotel in Dallas on 7/28 and he left for MEPS on 7/29.  It was a difficult day and I hope you are doing ok today at MEPS as well.  My son has been at BC for 3 weeks now and it is a little easier but it's still hard.  Please let us know if you have any questions or if you just need to vent/talk...  This site has been an amazing support system!  Hang in there and know you are not alone.  :)

Remie10, I'm from Rowlett...my son graduated bootcamp 8/9/13. Let me know if you want to talk. Boot camp is quite the roller coaster ride!
Thank you ladies for the encouragement. I got to spend time with her today at Meps. It was bitter sweet seeing her leave in that bus. Can't wait to hear her voice tonight.

Lot's of support here...you are not crazy or too attached to your child...you love her and it is ok to feel this way.  Cry when you need to and get on here regularly and find some good groups to join.  it really helps.  Start writing letters now and date the envelope on the outside corner.  Before you know it it will be graduation time.  My son graduates 8/30, very soon.  I am south of Dallas.
