My husband is currently in A school at Corry Station in Pensacola and will be there for at least 10 months if not 18 months depending on which C school he gets. However, I am not included on the orders and he is not allowed to live off base. So I'm going to be living by myself. I've found a few possibilities for places to rent, but I have no idea about what the area is actually like. I'm looking for any and all information about Pensacola that I can get. If anyone has any information about safe and affordable places to rent that would also be great. I do have a 50lb Samoyed/American Eskimo mix dog and 2 cats, which I know complicates things, but 2 of which are old(12&10) and since I can't have kids, they are my kids.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have a friend who's a navy wife who lives in Pensacola. I'll ask her tomorrow where they live (I know they have large dog). My husband was able to submit a live ashore chit during A school. (They didn't approve ours, or ever even get back to us, but his A school was not over the 6 month requirement.) I would hope they would be able to eventually let him live with you. Like I said, I'll get back to you on the apartment name.

Hi,

I'm not sure what the number is anymore but you can Google the Corry Station Housing Office and call the number and they will help you with apartments around the area even though you wouldn't be living on base since you don't have official orders to move there. I actually called because my husband is there for IT training when I was thinking about relocating there on my own. They were so nice and didn't give me any attitude like I expected since I'm not officially on his orders. They are civilians and so nice. The lady even offered to go look at apartments for me if I couldn't make it out to take a look first. She knew of rental companies with housing and everything which might be what you need since you have a dog. Just as a warning though the command is not very friendly to spouses moving out there without orders. They are super strict and well just rude about it with the IT group for some reason. I'm thinking because they have a larger fail rate and so they want to keep all distractions away. They may not even allow your husband to sign a lease with you so you can get an apartment. Not that they would know but they threatened if they found out they would make my husband's life very difficult with extra duties and things like that. So ultimately I didn't move out there but I do visit a lot. It was a very frustrating process. I'm sorry you are probably going to have a tough time with it. But really the housing office was super sweet and were the only ones who didn't make me feel like an idiot for trying to move out there. Good luck to you. Keep us posted on your move.

Hi! I have lived here in Pensacola for a little over  a year now. I'm not sure what your price point is but we lived in Emerald Shores and rented from Perdido Sand Reality. You might want to consider a apartment or condo downtown, Warrington has some very sketchy areas. We lived off Gulf Beach Hwy, but got BAH and could afford a house in Emerald Shores.

Feel free to email me any options you are considering and I can let you know if that area/neighborhood is safe for you to live on your own. michellepapanicolas@yahoo.com
