My 23 year old twin sons left for GL on August 27. They both recently received associates degrees in Math and Science, and decided to enlist in the navy, rather than furthering their college career at this time. While I'm proud of them for making this choice, I am also experiencing many emotions, including fear, sadness, and excitement for what this new opportunity will bring for them. While I miss hearing their voices every day, I am looking forward to seeing them at PIR.

Thank you so much for the encouraging words, it's great to hear from other moms who are experiencing some of the same things I am. One of the hardest things for me is not being able to talk to them everyday. It's difficult not knowing how they are doing.

Sugarmom, you may want to join Twins and multiples in the NavyI also invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) there.

Thank you for the information! I really appreciate it.

You are very welcome.

My son left Aug 27 as well. We are anxiously awaiting his letter. His petty officer sent us his address yesterday. Based on info on this site not sure if is completely reliable tho. I miss being able to talk to him about his day. Trusting he is doing well, making some great friends, and adjusting to his new routine without too much worry.
Thank you for the reply, it's so great to hear form other moms who are going through some of the same things I am. How did you establish contact with the petty officer? I'm not sure how to do that.

The Petty Officer she referred to is her SR's recruiter. You may be able to get the info from the recruiter, but it is best to wait on the form letter before sending anything to your recruits.

MY daughter left 27th as well.......it was certainly great of the PO to get you their address, I am waiting on the box which hopefully is in my office chair tomorrow when I go back to work and my form letter.  A few days I did ok, but yesterday I was really missing her............although I know I won't hear from her for 3 weeks I still have my phone glued to my hand.  If you are not on navyformoms facebook, you should join we all stay on there going back and forth anytime something happens.  Good way to stay in touch fast.

Check your My Page.

My dauhghter left a year ago on August 29th.  The first few weeks are definitely the hardest.  But you'll be soooo happy and proud when you finally start getting letters and phone calls.  Lift them all up in prayer as it is hard for them too, but they'll find that it will definitely be worth it.  Will keep you all in my prayers, I know it's hard!!!
