For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Daughter leaves 9/11 anyone else out there?

Its 18 days until she goes to boot camp getting nervous.

She'll be fine!!! My daughter is leaving out about a week after yours, so I know how you feel. I went through boot camp years ago, and while it was an adjustment, it was overall a very positive experience. As much as I'm looking forward to being an 'empty nester', I'm sure I'll be a little anxious the closer it gets for her to leave. Glad I came across this forum.

My son leaves from Jacksonville on 9/11 for BC - so hard to believe we are down to the last week! Had a great weekend with him and looking forward to the next week with him - trying to make it count:) I will also be a single mom empty nester which is going to be different...never been alone! Trying to think positive thoughts about the whole thing for him and me!

My son leaves on 9/11 as well. It's been an exciting time for us, realizing that he will be out in the world on his own, even though he's technically lived on his own for a year, he's just really never been "away" from home - he only live a few miles from us. We will basically be empty nester's but are excited for the experience and knowledge he will gain. I think it will be the hardest on his dad. I'm the step-mom, and although I've been that for more than half his life, it's still a bit different. We are rooting for him all the way and looking forward to seeing him at his PIR. I wish all of you well too!

Our oldest leaves from Charlotte NC on Sept. 11th. Down to the last week and I'm finally getting him to start packing his room.

I'm trying to keep the very positive side of this in the forefront of my mind, but I can't help feeling a little nauseous thinking of this time next week...I'm excited for him and at the same time extremely anxious. I'm sure every one of us have felt the same way.

Hang in there, Ladies. We're all going to have better, stronger children from this...and luckily we're all here for each other.

Yes, my son ships from St. Louis on the 11th. Time is getting short; trying to make the most of it. Right now working on boxes going to relatives with notecards, stamps, navy candle, American flag, and encouragement cards. I will include the Mother's prayer and a note about supporting "Letters for Recruits". Will forward his address to them once I get it. Starting to get anxious; my husband was already aboard the submarine when I met him. This is all new for me. Thoughts are with you.
