My son leaves for Boot Camp on Sept. 12th and I am hoping to meet some mothers or wives that have a loved one leaving this day. As it becomes closer, I am an emotional mess :(

I am so very proud of him, but he's my only child and I am going to miss him terribly.

Thank you for the support and I will be thinking of you also as your son's day quickly approaches.

Hello.  My son also leaves on Sept 12

Its only 2 weeks away :(

My name is Marla and I'm from Michigan. Where are you from?

How are you doing?  So far, so good for me.  We had a lot of company all week leading up to him leaving.  There were a lot of tears.  Maybe I'm all cried out   ;-)

By the way, I'm Karen and we're from southern Illinois

my son leaves for great lakes tomorrow morning. I am also a mess... was actually very unprepared for this wave of emotion. I am so proud of him and excited for his futere but sad and going to miss him

My son also arrived at Boot Camp Sept.12th. His name is David. I also was and am an emotional mess and feel all the pain that the rest of the Moms are feeling. Said I wasn't going to cry when I gave him to his recruiter but that was a total fail. I cried all 150 miles home and then some. We are from Alamo,NV. and my name is Bernice.

God Bless all of our Sailors and their loved ones. So proud to be a Navy Mom.

We went to MEPS with him but they told us that we wouldn't be able to go to the airport. I was so sad. But on a positive note, I got my box today. Im so excited to get home from work. Hopefully yours came today also.

Yep, the box came yesterday.  I've been reading that quite a few people that left on the 11th are getting their letters already.  Maybe we'll get get ours tomorrow.

My Husband reported to MEPS on 9-11 but was told he wouldn't ship out until 5:30 a.m. on 9-12. His plan left San Diego international airport at 8:30 a.m. and he arrived at O'Hara Airport at 12:21 p.m. At about 5:30 p.m. I got the "I am here phone call" and I haven't heard from him since.

We are still waiting for the box to arrived and his first letter.

I so very proud of my husband I keep telling myself "this is his first deployments"

I am struggling with the same feelings. My son left for MEPS on 9/9 and for RTC on 9/10. I was fine until he left but have been an emotional mess since then. Today was the first day I didn't cry! I think it is because I received 'the letter' yesterday. Even though it was a form letter, I felt some relief and connection to him seeing the few spots where he wrote 'Mom and Dad', his address, his graduation date, and his invitees. Sounds silly, but I feel so much better today. Can't wait to get 'the box'!

My son also left the 12th, and I have been crying everyday. His name is pierce and he is the youngest of 3 boys (18). I received my box today and just wanted to die. All he had was a cell phone and a book in it. No shoes, shorts, or anything else. It seemed so empty, kinda like how I felt inside. I also got his address today. Let me know when you get your sons address. Maybe our sons are together! Stay strong!

My son left on the 12th too. I was able to go to MEPS and watch him do the swearing in. We did not go to airport. So, we have 2 in Navy now. And a daughter at home. Countdown to PIR to start! cant wait to find out the date! So excited for all of our future sailors!
