My son left 9/11 for boot camp and I was at a complete loss until I joined this site and received direction from a beautiful navy mom! Thanks lemonelephant you're the best!! I never received a call that night but no news is good news and I'm holding onto that! I'm looking to connect with other moms! I'm looking forward to receiving his box but most of all the form letter! I've been writing him everyday and will send them when I have his address. I miss him dearly but I'm one proud momma! This is going to be a long 9 weeks but I know it will make us all stronger! Love and hugs!

When does it get easier? My daughter left Sept 9th.. It feels like a death to me.

HiTracy,

I understand just how you feel. My son left on Aug.20th I did not hear from him for three weeks. It was hard, but then I recieved his mailing address and that made me feel better. So far I've heard from him twice and recieved a 4 page letter. It will get easier, just be proud of your daughter, and remember she made the right choice and chose the best branch. All I dream of is seeing my son Graduate B/C.Hang in there it does get easier. The first 3 weeks I hear are the tuffest ,then it because a lot better.

Tracy. I know how hard this is and what you are going through. I first went through BC. And then saying goodbye when he went to Japan. Start looking at Great Lakes area for your upcoming trip, it helps pass time. Address or not write to her. That really helped me. Remember we raised good kids who made a choice to serve this country. The most honorable thing they could have chosen to do!! Keep yourself surrounded by people who understand. ( Navy moms rock) You'll get a few calls but when you get the battle stations call and she says " I'm a sailor" it will all be worth it!! Promise! I'm am ex navy wife and current mom of a one year sailor in Japan. There were times I thought I wasn't going to make it but I did and you will as well. Dig deep and find that strength that you passed to your daughter. :)

Sorry for the long post lol.
No box yet. I know this may sound weird but I'm anxious to get it. To smell the clothes and just feel like part of him is here. The kid in the box is the clothing and items ie cellphone that they had with them when they arrived at BC. I miss him dearly but I'm very excited for him. Very proud of him. I'm from Debary Fl .

Don't worry you'll get to sniff his clothes pretty soon, maybe today !!! I'm sure all mom's and some dad's can relate to that feeling. When my son's box came with all his stuff I took of whiff and I almost cried. Remember That you can cancel temporarily his phone sevice while he is in boot camp.Phone companies have a program for people in the service. Look int it. They turn it back on when they get a call.

My son also left on 9/11.  I received my 10-second phone call about 8:30 est that night, and how I wish I could talk to him again!!!  Two - three weeks seems way, way to far away!!!  I am counting down the days to PIR -- 54 more to go!!!  I just talked to his recruiter, and he was able to give me my son's address which was posted this morning!!!  I have written him everyday and am going to send out the package today!  He's in Division 952, Ship 02.  I feel so much better knowing he has an actual address!!!  I am so excited for everything he is going to do and experience, sad that he is not "mine" anymore -- he "belongs" to the Navy now, and most of all so proud of him, his dedication and determination!  I can't wait to hear from him!!!

Where do I find the post MC sleeper?
Denise you'll have to talk to the recruiter. They have access to that posted info. :)

Wonderful,and am happy for you.

You were right! I received the box today! May sound silly but I can see light at the end of the tunnel now.

I'm Happy for you,now just have patients and wait the first call from your SR. That will be quite the experience !!

Since I got my sons address from his recruiter today, there have been a multitude of emotions. I was feeling like they lost him, then I was relieved to have "found" him. As the day went on, I realized his address is nnot the same as mine! Wow....Then when I got home from work, his box was waiting for me. Having his clothes and his formerly ever-attached cell phone in my hands was bittersweet too. There was certainly some comfort, but also a feeling of loss. Today was not a great day....hopefully tomorrow will be better!
