Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 407 and 408

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

My daughter is Ship 11 Division 407 and I think 408 is with her too. I got form letter this week too. Box of personal effects the week prior. I have not received a personal letter or a personal phone call either, just the phone call 10 second phone call on 8/27 - the day she shipped. Don't be worried. I suspect our kids need the letters of encouragment which they will recieve from us parents, of coure. I told my daughter that if she could not write, not to worry. I told her if it is too much pressure and she has other things to do on her off days, to concentrate on that instead. It seems parents are getting personal letters in the 3rd and 4th weeks of RTC BC. So hang in there. Also, I plan to attend graduation, however, I have not made those arrangements as of yet. They suggest purchasing refundable tickets. REFUNDABLE!!! xoxo

Good point Tiffany, I guess they do have a full plate.  Letters are the last thing I should be expecting from her.  Thanks for the advice.

My daughter is also in Ship 11 Div 408.  From what I have already read about the other divisions on her PIR date, there could be calls coming this weekend and letters stating next week.  Hang in there.  Also, I have reserved my hotel, just not a car or plane tickets yet.

Hi Nicksmom. My daughter left 8/26 from Garland. I was so excited yesterday when she finally called. I has tears of joy! We got to chat for 15 mins. Found out she got sick and was on bed rest for 3 days. Terrible sinus infection, which is terrible timing for someone who rarely gets sick. Best of all I just got another short call a while ago! She made section leader and was rewarded with a call. Awesome weekend! Be safe on your drive to PIR. that's a long drive from SAT.

Why would they say not to volunteer as a leader?  I would think that the goal is to be recognized and take leadership.  My SR is AECF. Not sure which direction she will take AE or CF.  She is due to stay in Great Lakes for A School.  What city is he going to A School?

HI all. My daughter is at RTC Ship 11 Division 408. I haven't received a personal letter, but have received calls from her because she was hospitalized for 2 days. They released her back to bc on "light duty" until today when she had an appointment to return to medic. Hopefully she's better and able to return to full duty and not falling behind!!

I got a phone call from my daughter on Ship 11 Div 407 and she sounded great. Told me the name of her closest friend in there, Last name (starts with the letter B and ends with the letter L), and my daughter passed all the testing. They are getting ready to unleash on them tomorrow!!! A lot of intense training as they were held up for 2 weeks. She said she was having fun, eating a lot and making new friends. I expected the first phone call for her to be homesick. NOPE!!! SHE IS AS HAPPY AS CAN BE.  If your daughters last name starts with the letter B and ends with the letter L, thats my daughter BF on Ship 11 Div 407!!! And they sound like they are having too much fun!!! They are all having fun it sounds like so anyone who is concerned for there kids in this ship/div, don't be. They seem to be quite a tight niche group of woman!!! xoxo

Unfortunately, we MISSED our daughters call on Saturday.  The one time we didn't have our phone.  She did leave a voice mail saying she was ok.    She is also in Ship 11 Div 407.  Could you possibly elaborate on the 2 weeks they were held up?  I'm guessing that she won't be calling again for awhile, if at all til graduation.

Kellysmom:  They have up to 2 weeks of processing when they first arrive, so they don't start their training weeks until they have been there for about 2 weeks.  Don't worry, it doesn't delay their PIR date.  All of that was taken into consideration when scheduling the PIR date.  Although individuals can be held back/setback (asmoed), divisions are not held back.

As far as her future calls, they can happen at any time, so please have your phone close!  And, yes, she probably will be calling again!  :-)  But calls are totally random so that is why you need to be prepared at any time!  You may want to re-record your voicemails on your home and cell phones to greet your SR in the event you miss another call....but hopefully you will not....Glad she left you a message and you know she is fine!  :-)

Kelly's Mom: and diannep: Sorry, I should not have confused the words held up or delayed. They were in processing and their PIR is not going to change. They will have opportunity to call again, of course. They were learning things like how to make beds properly, getting uniforms, and my daughter said on Saturday, they were going to receive their name tags. They are doing PT as well, but from what my daughter said, they did not get into their permanent living quarters until Friday or Saturday. IT IS ALL GOOD and they all sound very happy. They are forming good, solid bonds.

Tiffanys: I just got another call from my daughter and yes, my daughter is the one that your daughter was talking about.  I even got to speak with her too tonight and she said to let you know that they have become very good friends. The reason I was confused is that our last name starts with a B and ends with an E but some people spell it differently.  It all makes sense now.  It makes me so happy to hear that they are friends.  Will you be going to graduation?

Half Pint,

I am not sure if I can attend graduation yet or not. Kinda having some conflicts with regard to my involvement in Governement Politics so there are some variable I need to figure out with regard to committee meetings I am supposed to attend. I inboxed you what... I think... was a private message, as I am not sure we can share to much personal detail about our kids here in the open forum. Thank you and I look forward to speaking with you!!! xoxo

Tiffany
