For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

It comes up very quickly. Damon left on Tuesday. It seems like he has been gone forever already. Make the most of your time.
A quick overview of his final two days:
We live in California so he shipped out of Sacramento. He went to MEPS with the recruiter around noon on Monday. He was only in MEPS for an hour or so signing paperwork before they put him up in the hotel. He was then allowed to leave the hotel but had to be back to check in at 9:45 pm and in his room at 10 pm. We went up there on Monday and took him out to dinner with family and friends. We then stayed the night in a hotel and went to MEPS the next morning to see him sworn in (9 am swear in). After he was sworn in you have 3 minutes to say goodbye. They have to do some final paperwork while their flights are booked. They will then have a travel briefing and be given their flight information. A shuttle will be waiting out front for them to take them to the airport. You can say your goodbyes to them there in those three minutes or follow them to the airport, depending on how soon their flight leaves. We went to the airport. With my oldest son who went in 2010, they allowed us to go up to the gate to sit with him until he got on the plane. This time the lady would not let us do that. It really just depends on how nice the person is that is at the ticket counter. We stayed downstairs at the airport and sat at Starbucks to visit with him for the last hour. He was very lucky as his best friend was leaving for boot camp with him. We all stood at the bottom of the escalator and watched them as they went up to their flight. (It was a great photo op....take a pic from the bottom of the escalator as your son/daughter goes up). To us it was like the boys' transition from boys to men.
I bought him a thin black leather wallet and inside I put....a book of stamps, a calling card, a laminated card with addresses on it, and photos.
I hope this will give you all a better idea of what to expect when he leaves. If you have any questions, I would love to answer them for you.

My daughter left on the 10th. I didn't realize it would be so hard to have her gone!

What division is your son? Mine is Ship 13, Div 422. They are all in Great Lakes. PIR is 11/08 :)
