My fiancé will be staying in GL for A school. Is there any way Sailors are ever allowed to stay the night at the motel with their families? So far I have read no but hubby wants me to book us a room because he thinks he can stay off base during that weekend. Is this ever allowed?

Hello copiousamour
My brother is in a school right now. Unfortunatly, the sailors have to return to base every night by ten o'clock but they can leave early in the morning at 6 am. It's a process but it is worth it. Good luck to yourself and your sailor.
Not until phase 3 liberty which is about 6-8 weeks after PIR

It is not allowed, they stopped that about a year ago.  He may think he can get approval, but per the "A" Schools instructions no new Sailor is allowed overnight liberty.

Thank you all!

Here is the current regulation, in case he doesn't believe us.

my son did not stay with us but I have a friend her son did they just had to have him back at the base at 6 am and he only had to stay a while til they are released so there are ways to get around it just don't know how to tell you but I do know it has been done

My friends son has been in the navy for five years so things may have changed.

The new changes were put in place around two years ago, so yes, they do go back each evening now.

They have not been released yet.  I looked at the calendar, because sometimes it is obvious, but not too sure about this year.  Depends if they want to begin on Friday or Monday.

CopiousAmour, I am not an expert on this, but I can tell you what we found recently, my son graduated bootcamp in September. He had a curfew.  We found that by staying at the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites on base, we had more time together as we didnt spend time driving back or waiting at the gate. I also had complete access to the base to eat at the restaurants wtih him and pick him up right outside his dorm first thing in the morning.  there is a process to this-and you must get clearances done.

If you are interested, call: 1-877-628-9233 they help you with the clearances and the booking.  The base has nice resaurants (Sam Adams), a bowling alley, and lots of other things to do.

My son graduated PIR 11-8.   He is on hold until January!! He is in damage control.  So, I guess that puts him finishing at

the end of March or first of April..We are hoping he can come home some during the holidays.

Hi everybody! My son's PIR date is 12-13, and his A school will be in Great Lakes. Any idea if he will be able to come home over the holidays? He will be going to A school for damage control
