While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Navy BC is 7 to 10 weeks, with the average being 8 1/2 weeks, To guesstimate the PIR date, count 9 Fridays from the date of arrival to get the most likely PIR date of 11/29/2013, but it would be 11/27/2013 since that is Thanksgiving week. You have to know that it could be the week before, 11/22/2013, if he is one of the last to fill a division from the TG from the week before, possible for one arriving on a Tuesday as your future Sailor will be. It could also be the week after if he must wait for additional recruits to arrive the next week to fill his division; that is less likely for one arriving on a Tuesday, but does happen at times. You will not know the PIR date for certain until someone receives the form letter. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) for more on that.
Navy PIR is a one morning event, but there is a Meet and Greet for loved ones, no new Sailors present, the night before PIR. Following PIR, your then new Sailor will have Liberty on the day of PIR and each day of the weekend if he stays in GL for "A" School or training or Liberty on the day of PIR and most likely fly out the day after PIR (or on the Friday after if PIR is Thanksgiving week) if he flies out to "A" School or training. During PIR Weekend for more on that.Join the group, Leavin' for bootcamp in October or October Boot Camp Family. You will meet others with loved ones leaving that day/week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for.... I also suggest you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there.
Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view. Craig runs that and will steer him to some good links on there.

The Air Force is special...they do things differently. With the Navy graduation is one day, the day of PIR, you do not get to see them before PIR like with the Air Force. also if there school will be out of state, odds are they fly out the day after PIR. Also the meet and greet is not sponsored by the Navy nor put on by the Navy. Sarge does that out of the goodness of his heart and gives you all wonderful information about the area and PIR.

When you receive the form letter, which comes separately from the "kid in a box" ,it will have your SRs graduation date. Wait until you receive the form letter to make your travel plans.

Received letter yesterday My son left October 1st is in 800 group and his graduation is Nov 22.

My son left on Oct 1st also, I have not received my form letter yet. Nov 27th. That is a lot sooner than I thought it would be.

I too have my oldest in the AF, what a great celebration! Have you received anything? My son left 10-03, for swcc. We received the letter on 10-07 and the box today. I hope you here tomorrow. Stay positive .

Hi! :) that's awesome!! We'll be heading to Lackland in 2 weeks! Super excited about that.. We've only recieved the box.. No letter yet :/ hopefully maybe tomorrow (fingers crossed and hoping to God)
