Hello Ladies,
My Sailor graduated on the 27th. It was by far the most amazing day ever :) I was so incredibly proud of everything he had accomplished during his time in bootcamp as well as everyone else in his ship that graduated.
It truly was the most amazing thing I have ever seen or experienced :) And I felt like I was on top of the world to finally be able to run into his arms! It was better than I ever imagined it being.
So girls, for those of you that are still waiting to go to your Sailor's PIR, keep staying strong! When that day comes and you see your sailors transformation, it will be well worth the wait.
Thank you to all who have given me advice and support on this website. It has and still will be a difficult road ahead as a Navy girlfriend, but I an happy to be able to go on a site like this and hear of other women going through the same struggles as I am. This is a truly unique set of obstacles for any relationship, but the support from all these women help make the struggle a bit easier. Thank you all :)

How much longer till he graduates? How are you holding up?
If you have any questions or need support, I am always here to help :)
I'm sorry :( Have you been sending and receiving receiving receiving receiving That was really therapeutic for me. Just knowing he was receiving my letters and reading my words made me feel at ease. But you are at the one month mark!! the day is coming!! :)) I PROMISE you, PIR will be the absolute best day. It will make this wait worth it :)
Oh I know :/ You just have to remember to stay strong for him. You've waited for so long already, and the amount of days left till PIR keep getting smaller :) The time away during his bootcamp felt like an eternity for me! But I don't know, somehow, somewhere, you gotta find that strength and reason to keep moving forward, keep getting out of bed, and tell yourself the day WILL come.
Thank you for posting this, kakhimedson! My boyfriend graduates 11-15. Reading some comments about navigating through as a girlfriend, liberty in A School, getting married, living arrangements, and then time apart whenever he gets deployed is a bit overwhelming. This just brightened my day! Where is your boyfriend at now?
My boyfriend is in Pensacola for A school :) It has gotten easier being away since he has his phone with him. We can text and talk on FaceTime now :) It is overwhelming learning everything! There is so much to learn, I am still learning! But keep going on this site, keep talking to the other women, researching, it will become easier. I wanted to post about PIR weekend because I knew it would give hope to the other women that the day WILL come! Even when it feels like an eternity till then! It will come, and it will be absolutely amazing :) Don't be too suprised if you don't recognize him at first. When I finally found my boyfriend, I did a double take. It wasn't till he reached out for me I knew for sure it was him!
Oh, that's fun to imagine! I know he will look differently when I finally get to see him. Probably skinnier too, as I've heard they only have a limited time to eat! lol. Anyway, thank you for your insight :) Pensacola is one of the places my boyfriend will be for A School, as well. It's actually Eglin Air Force Base. Is your boyfriend EOD or Air Rescue? Thanks for helping me see the "light at the end of the tunnel" ;)
No problem :) I love to help in any way I can :) My boyfriend is an AD (aviation mechanics mate). He is so eager to start his training! But, currently he is stuck, waiting to class up.
My boyfriend did loose a lot of weight! His face is thinner now too. And he had no hair! And he is all muscle-ly. So that was fun to see ;) Your boyfriend will look and act different. But personally, I liked the change :) it was different.
In public, I don't know if your boyfriend has told you, but he will be acting differently in public. Like he will be more business like. No holding hands, he offers his left arm for you to hold onto, leaving his right hand to salute or shake a hand. No making out, no hanging onto him. Which all makes sense because he will be representing the Navy for now on, gotta keep it classy and professional! So just keep that in mind during your visit.
Any other questions or needed support I am always here :) I check the site every day! :)
Thanks so much for this post, my boyfriend will be graduating on 11/27 and it has been an adjustment! I received a phone call on Saturday and it really helped me transition. I was wondering if you would be comfortable sharing where you stayed when you went for graduation? I will be traveling to Great Lakes alone and am still trying to make the arrangements! Thanks so much!
