Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 013 and 014

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Just five minutes to talk to him is all I ask....the call last week was a blur, I cannot even explain it. I hope you get that call soon!  It will help just to talk to him/her.  I knew I would miss him but I never imagined it would be quite like this!

Oh Beth, I agree I was so excited when he called that first time. It was like ok what did we talk about for 4 minutes. I hear ya, I still find myself crying rather easily. This is a real life changer for myself. As it is for all other moms, wives and girlfriends. I'm looking forward to some mail this week. I hope that happens

Hi,

This is suzb. My husband and i was going to visit my sons girlfriend at work this past saturday and my son called her just when we got there. He's in div 013 and we were worried because we haven't received any mail. He said there was some kind of mix up for getting it out. They definately will be sending it out this past Sunday. Hope this info helps.

I have been hoping for mail as well but nothing yet. I guess we are all feeling this same anxious feeling....hope you hear from your child soon!!

Good Morning Ladies!
Beth - my son was the same way @ his first call home (unscripted) he is also in DIV 013. I was so worried after that call I could not sleep good! But his call home on Saturday he sounded much better & very positive! He still misses everyone especially his niece & nephews (my grand kids) but he is getting use to the routine and making friends with others that has the same job as he. He did say that it is getting better. I hope this helps you to know that it will get better for all the SR's once they get over that initial hump! As for phone calls home...I am guessing they get to call home every other week? But it all depends on who ever is in charge??? My sons girlfriend got 2 calls in one day (back to back)? When she told me this I was like WHAT??? lol......I guess who ever was in charge was in a good mood??? lol...praying you folks get that phone call this weekend!

I hope he calls again soon! Is it only weekends that they are able to call then or could a phone call come at any time?  I wasn't sure how that worked.  I am so excited to see him I cannot wait!!

Hi Beth,

I didn't ask my son when they can call again (I'm not sure he knows himself). From what I have read, the call can come at anytime but they typically call on the weekend. Mine were all from area code 847, I believe they have to earn calls and try to prepare yourself that we may not get a call again until the "I'm a Sailor" call a few days before PIR and try to remember that no news is good news. We have letters from them on the way and keep writing in the meantime!!! Their processing days are behind them and I'm sure it will get better for him (especially as PIR gets closer!) :)

There are some groups on here for girlfriends if his girlfriend wants to join too and talk with some of them that know exactly how she feels, it may help her feel better! I know it's been my life saver with the information and support on here as a mom!

What is your sons rate (job)?

Thank you.  His job is machinists mate.  He will be staying in Great Lakes for his A School.  I did not that our call came from an 847 are code as well.  I am going to tell his girlfriend about the site as well, she could use some moral support from other girlfriends. :)

That's awesome! You will get to spend some time after PIR, all of Saturday and maybe Sunday too with your SR! Here is the link to the Group with PIR/Liberty information: http://navyformoms.com/group/bootcampmoms/page/liberty-during-pir-w...

My son's rating is Nuke and he is going to Goose Creek, SC for A School. We won't know until next week what his rating will be within the Nuke field (as he has to pick his preference this week and will be notified next week which one he gets). I sent you a friend request and will message some other suggested groups you may want to look into as well! :)

I think his girlfriend will be thankful you requested this site for her!

:(  Still no calls, no letters.  I thought maybe with Monday being a holiday that he may get a chance to call, since others got calls this weekend.  I'm assuming that means that he is putting his heart and soul into his new life (SO him!).  I've heard a few comments about div 13 having a delay in letters going out.  Is that right?  Or is it out and in?  I'm not worried, but it would be nice to get an idea of how he's doing.  Is he one of those going 'what did I do?', or 'I'm doing great, mom, don't worry'.  Maybe it's better not to know.

The wisdom tooth thing bothers me a little bit, too, since his orthodontist kept 2 wisdom teeth in and took out 2 molars instead...hate to think of them taking out the wisdom teeth now...it would make him 'uneven'.  I guess I'll have to wait...maybe til PIR!  I guess we'll have a LOT to talk about then.

I really enjoy reading all the comments, but I've been sticking to my e-mail in-box rather than coming on line.  It gets too easy to spend a lot of time on here!  Please know I'm 'listening' but not necessarily posting a lot (you are all active during my working hours!!)

Hi Barb, I did see someplace that it may be possible your SR was on watch when they were able to make calls and they may get a chance to call during the week. Keep your cell close just in case! (I'm sure you are anyway! :)) Try to remember... No news is good news!

Yes, there was a mixup with Div 013's mail and letters will be going out this week, rather than last week. Hold tight they are on their way!

I'm sure they will only take your SR's wisdom teeth out if they need to. As I would bet they have run across that before with other recruits and are teeth experts at this point! I have heard of some from their Division that didn't get theirs out. :)

Stay strong!

Hi Everybody!! I just wanted to remind everybody to STAY STRONG!! We expect our SRs to stay strong that means we have too!! One of my SRs favorite saying and I quote" God will not put anything on your plate that u can not handle, so handle it". Every time I miss him( which is a lot) I think of him saying that over and over and it pulls me through. So just remember our motto STAY STRONG!!
