OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

It broke my heart to read that!! I raised 2 girls, neither of them decided on military, it is my son that leaves in 8 days. We live in Wyoming, and have to travel 4 hours to get to the recruiters office, then they will take the boys to Denver. I just booked a room for next Sunday night since he needs to be at the recruiters office at 9 AM. It would have broke my heart of my son would have moved out right before! My advice is, you can't change the past, only the future, you have 8 days and off she goes, and the clock is ticking!! Remind her you love her unconditionally. Spend every moment you can with her!! Good luck!

She came home that night after I posted this. We spend a great week together. Told her I'd rather be happy than right. Her dad and I are very sad tonight is the last night she will spend here. This week she packed up her room, very tramatic. Had her a Banana Cream Pie made. She has to be in Little Rock 30 miles away by 8 tomorrow night. But we are going to the airport with her on Tuesday. Are you planning on going to graduation??? Where is your son ging to A school??

Wow.. Took him to the recruiters today, had a very difficult 4 hour drive home. But I feel more proud than sorrow. The poor lady in the Hallmark store ( it was across from the recruiters office) I went in there to get a grip, but had tears running down my face.. Anyway, YES!! I wouldn't miss his graduation for anything!!
Very happy you and your daughter worked things out.. Being a parent is a tough job!! -

This is his last night at home. Wow, has time flown by! We went to church together this morning (we usually go to different churches.) I almost cried-- okay, I got teary-eyed as the pastors prayed over him. I think we both are ready now. Tomorrow after breakfast, I'll drive him to the recruiter's and say, "See you in December." I love that boy, and will miss him, but I couldn't be more proud! He doesn't want me going to MEPS or the airport with him, and I'm fine with that. I know he'll text me a bit while waiting.

Yes, it was hard for me too! Are you going to his swearing in ceremony and seeing him off at the airport?? You can dothat. Hang in there! We all are saying bye to our future sailor!

I can't say that it was hard... just odd. I've been on the verge of tears off and on all day. Weird stuff will trigger it too-- like thinking of letters. I was tempted to text him this evening and ask what time he will be home tonight. (It's one of my most common texts.) Well, time to write my first letter!

My son has to be at recruiter today at noon. I'm sad too. He will be leaving to go to the base today to get process and leave out tomorrow. He will only be home now to visit. We live in FL.

We left her at hotel last night, she texted a couple of times. This morning 5 am she called and ask if I would bring aspirin and her jacket when we met her at airport at noon today. Said she didn't sleep much, never did before the first day of school. I am n ot looking forward to seeing the plane pull away from the gate. But this is what she wants. Wish me luck. Did you look at weather in Chicago? Chance of snow and 32.

Leaving my son at the hotel was a pretty brutal thing to do. When it was time to walk out that door I felt terrible leaving him. Thankfully he returned to his room and someone else was in it with him. I hated the idea that he would have been all alone, On our way to the hotel we stopped and bought him a jacket as the one he brought with him was just a wind breaker. Good luck to you today.
