Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 023 and 024

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hi Eileen, my daughter is also Div 023 and she is 20. She will be an Aviation Ordnanceman, going to A school in Pensacola.

My daughter is also in your ship... division and schooling. She is 21 and will 22 while at boot camp. :) It is nice to meet you.

Hi Vicki!  Very nice to meet you!!  I'm scared, too, because I know my son.  lol  We had no idea that he was interested in the Navy until he had already met with the recruiter twice!  He didn't seem the "type" but he called last weekend and said he liked it so that made me feel better.  :-)  I know he's safe and couldn't be in better hands, but still, the thought of someone yelling at him (besides me...lol) makes me sad...  I know he needed to do this, though or he would never grow up.

Where are you from?  I'm in Virginia, about 20 miles south of DC.  Have you received the letter and the box?  When I saw Matt's writing on the box, I almost cried!  Matt is my oldest and the first one the leave the nest...  I think that's part of what makes it so hard...  And he'll be in GL until April!!

So happy to meet you!!!!!!  Looking forward to chatting with you!!

Eileen

Hi all SR supporters!  Our sub-group hasn't had posts for a few days so I thought we needed one.  Congratulations to all who have received calls over the weekend.  I received a call from my daughter Sat afternoon, was very happy to hear her voice.  She sounds so sad and tired.  Div 23 was supposed to be able to write and send mail out starting yesterday Oct 20, so I'll be checking the mail for a real letter in the next few days.  She will be staying in GL for her next schooling.  It doesn't sound like the girls in her div is working as a team yet....I hope they all, including my daughter, figure out how to get along and respect each other so they can work together as a unit soon.   Her main complaint right now is lack of free-time for studying.  I do hope they all had some free-time to enjoy on Sunday and maybe some quiet time to get to know each other a little better.

I am really looking forward to PIR  and Thanksgiving with my daughter!  I'll bet she will be very thankful that BC is behind her!

Hello everyone ... I finally got a chance to get on her and look around. I am very happy to meet you all and appreciate the active support I am receiving. My daughter is in Div 023 as well and will be doing her schooling in Great Lakes. My name is Lori and I am from a tiny town in NY.

Nice to meet you, Lori!  My daughter is in the same div as your daughter, Yay!  I am also in a small town, in CO.  My oldest daughter has a really close friend that is from Rinebeck....I think that is the name of the town.  Welcome aboard!  Are you going to PIR?  If so, I hope to meet you in person!

Have a wonderful day!

Mrspeacock...

I am indeed going. I would not miss such a special thing for anything. It is a huge accomplishment and I want all those who made it to know how proud I am of all of them. I am sorry but I will cheer loudest for her but I am happy for all. :) I would love to meet while we are there. Do you know how much time they will have off if any? I am trying to plan for a visit but I am not sure how much time will be available. I play roller derby and have a game Saturday in Canada so I am trying to figure out if I can make it. :/ She is my first priority so I will just see what happens.

You play roller derby??  How totally awesome!! You're my new Navy mom hero!!

From what I've been reading on here, if they are staying in GL for A-school, they should have Liberty Weds, Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun....as long as they don't have watch, no-one messes it up for everyone by being late returning from Liberty each night and no-one breaks any rules while on Liberty.....which there is a bunch of.   So I'd like to think I'll be able to have my daughter all days, but a lot of things out of her and our control could happen to put the kabosch on the extra days.

I'm so sorry to hear you haven't gotten any phone calls, but as they say....no news is very good news.  If she is "ship staff" or a recruit leader, she prolly has a lot of extra duties that take all of  her time.  If she was injured, really sick or having major dental work- you would have received a phone call already.  So just trust that she is doing great.  If she has your spunk, I'll bet she's top of the class!

Hello all! I'm Nicole and my daughter is in Div 23! She will be attending A School in Meredian, MS. I, too, spoke to her this past Sat and she sounded good and was in good spirits. She too, like "mrspeacock" daughter mentioned has a problem with the division not working as a team. Hopefully they will overcome this hurdle and work together! Looking forward to sharing our experience. Maybe we will meet in Chicago :-)

Hi Nicole!  I'm so glad to see you on this thread!  My daughter said she knows your daughter!  Yay!

Congratulations on the good news in your phone call!

On the div working as a team, maybe the "bad apples" will get themselves OSMOed or quit so the remaining girls can get it together as a team.  I'll bet they already have.  If my daughter, your daughter and Paige (Paige's Mum) are all saying they want to work together better, they will do just that.  Sounds like a majority of "good"...no "excellent apples" to me.

We will all have a great time at PIR!

Congrats to you, too, on hearing from your baby girl! Yessss they do know each other...how exciting! I saw that "Paige Mum" daughter is with our girls. I will be reaching out to her to say "hi". Will you be joining the pink top/blue ribbon dresscode at PIR?!

Could there be a reason some parent received phone calls and some did not? I have not talked to my daughter since she landed in Chicago. :( I am being told by friends that have served that no news is good news but as a parent the wait is killing me.
