Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 021 and 022

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

If anyone gets a call, can you ask your SR what week and day our division is on? I'm trying to follow along according to the day by day journal. Thanks!

Just got a short call from my SR. Keep your phones close. :) I believe he said that they were on week 2 day 2, but not positive about that.

I just got off a very long call with my SR. His is on LD (limited duty) due to wisdom teeth so he had some extra call time. He confirmed they are on week 2 day 2. He said that for those of you who are hearing their SR might be held back, not to worry, it's the RDC's using scare tactics to keep the focused on the areas that need improvement. He feels the division is doing well. He did comment how after only 2 calls home, he is almost out of phone card minutes due to the 35 minute payphone deduction. They were all given a $160 NEX card upon arrival to buy supplies, so band aids, stamps and phone cards can be bought there. They can get band aids free from the Yeoman so he asked me to PLEASE NOT send them with letters. He said letters are key, it gives them all something to look forward to every day. They are getting our letters very timely but seems there is a delay with outgoing mail. Oh, he did say that a lot of them have colds, flu, etc.. but it's not too bad. Hope you all get calls today!

Thank you so much, tiffytbe. Even though I spoke to mine, I learned so much more about how they're doing from yours. LOL! :)

Well, making a list of questions last night really helped me out on today's call!

I got a call!!! So good to hear his voice! THEN I was on the cell phone w my daughter and he called again! So she got to hear him, too! I guess everyone got their call in and he still had some time and a phone booth opened so he was able to call twice! Makes up for missing last week!

So-he said 27 are SIQ (too sick to do any drills, etc) and he is fighting being sick. He gets up at 4 am (that is hard for him, big time!) and they go non-stop till 8:30.

His 1st inspection he got a demerit for 1 shoelace going the wrong direction! Wow! They all had to stand at attention for 4 hours during that.

He said he felt like a cow in a stall when he got his shots. He said it was 8 shots in 1 minute. I guess you yell out name and ss and get shot, and move down to the next person giving you a shot. It really hurt afterwards.

I asked if he knew of anyone who might like a letter. He had asked, but they said they didn't want to hear from strangers. Maybe that will change in a week or two.

They started gun training 2 nights ago. He caries the flag on the left side. They have to shave a couple times a day and he didn't like that because the razor gets dull fast. His blisters are better, but still there.

He really wanted me to start sending him news, he said they had no idea what was going on in the outside world. So I told him the Govt. shutdown was over and he had no idea. He said they had to do some things online and could not because they were shut down because of the shut down, so he was happy about that. And excited to hear about football scores and mainly Notre Dame. (big fans here. This is the 1st home game he has missed in forever!)

When I said something about sending a manila self address stamped envelope to send his letters back, he practically yelled "yes'. He has little room in his locker and thought it was a great idea. (Thank you, ladies for the idea!)

He said everyone was working hard, but a few younger ones would laugh in line and make it harder on the rest. Hopefully they will get over that soon! As far as writing about being worried about not passing PIR, he said it was because of the division as a whole... he was worried because they all have to be ready. But they (Drill Sgt and SR's alike) are using Thanksgiving as a huge motivation.

So... I was able to get a lot of info and he sounded great! OH, and he got promoted to E2! Very happy, proud momma! He said they will always get to call on Sat. as long as they don't screw up during the week. Good to know!

After all that, I just sat and cried. I kept saying to myself "Thank you". I was so grateful to have that time with him and know he was ok. My best to all here!

wow! Thank you! After I get off the phone with my SR I can't remember half the things he said because I was so happy to just hear his voice!

Oh, you are welcome! Same to you, @abitofwhimsy! Looks like I wrote a book, but I was excited and wanted to share. I know that I myself just pour over these boards, looking for anything and everything regarding our SR's. I have to say, my attitude is much better after those calls!

Is it Thanksgiving yet? Ha Ha

Hugs to all!

Thank you so much TJ'sMom for the detailed info. So great to hear and get a real feel for what and how they are doing. Can't tell you how much I appreciate it!

My letter finally arrived. Yay! Didn't give me any news of the goings on there since we had just spoken the day before, but it was so good to see his hand writing and read how much he loves and appreciates his family. :) He did say that they are all dying to read news of the outside world. We are going to print out tidbits of news to send in each letter. If you didn't receive your letter already, I hope today is the day. Take care and have a great week!

Don't forget, today is Tuesday Trivia! It usually gets posted between 11-12 ET. I have to go in to volunteer today at school during that time so I won't be able to try and figure it out. If you are available to try, please do. What I wouldn't give to be able to see a picture of my SR and his division. Good Luck!

What is Tuesday Trivia?

I think I missed something...
