Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 417 and 418

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hey ladies, my son is in Division 418.  Evidently the guests have been downsized from 4 to 3.  I'm really worried that I'm not going to get in.  I'm his Mom and his Dad, his wife and my son's girlfriend are all going.  So that means one of us doesn't get to go and I'm worried it's going to be me.  My son's Dad goes out of his way to make life rough for me.  All four of us are on the original intended list.  How do I know if I'm going to get in?

Did you get a call from your SR? My stepson (Div 417) called his dad on Sunday for only a minute to say the list was cut down to three and that he wanted his mom and dad there, and the other two one the list had to figure it out between them. (it didn't sound like he needed 3 definite names) He also said that whoever doesn't go, can watch the live stream of graduation from the chapel right across the street. We live 25 minutes away from Great Lakes, so there's a small group of family planning on going together to watch from the chapel. After PIR, the sailors can walk around and see everyone at the chapel. I would think your son would want you there before his stepmom or girlfriend. I'm a stepmom and totally understand that his mom comes first. No question about it, no matter how bad I want to go. Write him a letter and tell him how much it means to you if you're worried and ask him who he wants there. If you're lucky, he'll get it soon and have time to respond to you. Good luck!

I wrote him; thanks!  This divorce drama is so old.  I was over it the day the ink was dry.  Hopefully this will be the last for a while.  UGH.

Hi, my son is also in division 418.  He called us about the list being downsized to 3 guests but that he was also allowed 2 guests to view the live stream at the Chapel.  I agree with the other ladies, just write him how important this is to you.  I'm sure it's just as important to him, too, that you are there.

I took your advice cinder and wrote to him today.  Hopefully he gets my letter before next week!

Sorry to hear about your predicament!  The only way for you to know is to have contact with your SR and ask OR ask his father.  Whomever has had contact with your sailor last will know.  Your SR is the one to write the names on the final guest list. Hope this helps!  We are in 418 too:)

Are you going to Sarge's meet and greet the night before?  It's from 5:30-9 and you can meet a ton of parents, and others who are attending graduation.  It's at the Sundance Saloon, 300 Lakehurst Rd., Waukegan, IL.  I can put you in touch with Sarge if you need me to!

Good luck proud sailor mom!! I definatly think you take precedent over everybody in the list for PIR!!! Don't us moms always?;)

Well it should certainly work that way but his Dad's constant "drama" often gets in the way.  I did get in touch with Sarge and am going to the meet and greet the night before graduation.  I sent an email to my SR's Dad to ask him to confirm with me that I am "on the list" if he gets the official "I'm a Sailor" call -- I think they only get one call.

Depending on the phone bank and needed usage your SR should have plenty of time to call more than one person. Fingers crossed that you will also get a call.

"ProudSailorMom I see you are planning to go to the M&G. Just wanted to let you know that we will be passing out candy to the little ones. Not sure if you have little ones. Just wanted to make you aware so if you did you wouldn't forget there costumes.

I'm going but I will be alone.  My husband has had a Colorado hunting trip booked and paid for long before we knew of my SR's PIR date.  So if anybody doesn't mind a tagalong, I'll be your huckleberry!  I don't have little ones but am happy to help pass out candy!  :)
