HI !
My son Kevin left on Oct 16, and we just received his KIB today. It was so great to get his things, even if it was just his cell phone and dirty clothes, lol..
We are anxiously awaiting the form letter and of course his first letter home. He also mentioned that he would probably get a short phone call about 3 weeks in. Does anyone know about what time they are allowed to make calls if they are given one? Thanks. I look forward to talking with all of you :)

Hi Krystle1kat-
Our daughter left on Oct 15th and we got our KIB on the 18th. No form letter yet :( We are impatiently waiting for it! :) As far as phone calls go, we were told by our daughter that the first one would be in about 3 weeks, however, I have heard they can happen anytime on any day except Sunday mornings. And as unhelpful as it sounds, I heard no news is good news :)
We calculated her PIR for 12/13/13...sounds like your son's will be the same.

Hi Wendy,
I have heard 12/20 and 12/13 for PIR . I hope its the 13th though :) You're right. No news is good news, so I'm grateful for that. Were still trying to adjust to Kevins absence around here. Someone said that their whole family dynamic changed when their son left, and I agree. Things aren't the same around our house, but I know I have to get over it because he has to move on. I can't wait to get his address so I can send him our letters !
Thanks for writing. I will try to pass on info as I get it. Hope you hear from your daughter soon !
Hi Krystle, my son left on Oct. 16 also. I thought I was ready for this but it has been more difficult then I realized it would be. I received my son's things today and it was great to get dirty laundry, wow!! He had a note tucked in his jeans that meant the world to me and I am so anxious to receive his address so I can start sending him letters.
Hi ladies! My daughter arrived on the 15th and I got a call from her this morning...medical questions. She said her form letter went out on Monday. Fingers crossed we get them soon! She was able to tell me she is in Div 905, Ship 2.
So happy you got to talk to her for a few minutes I'll bet you've been on cloud 9 all day. Heres hoping letter come by the weekend.
Has anyone started getting form letters from their sailors who left around the 15th?
ProudMavyMom...we got ours today and our daughter left on the 15th. She told me everyone mailed them Monday. I got to talk to her for about 10 minutes this morning because they needed medical info.
Hi, my son, David also left October 16, & we are anxiously awaiting for info also. I hope to get it this weekend. From what I have been reading, and his recruiter informed us is that the phone calls are at no particular time.
Thanks, got it today! Same ship/division as your Kevin. So glad I was able to put in for the time off today. It's going to be cold there, I haven't been in winter since 1990. Kim
krystle1kat, Hummingbird, ProudNavyMom & kagray : PRAYING you get your letters today!!! I will bet all of you get them!
