Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 802

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining this discussion to answer your questions about the "800" division.

Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

Got a call. He had forgotten his girlfriend's number. No contacts list. Good to hear him. He sounded good. A bit tired, but looking forward to the next phase. Glad to hear you all got calls too. So proud of him.

I spoke to my son yesterday.  All is well, He said that he may be able to come home after boot camp since they shut down alot during the holiday.  He also said  pre buds may be delayed because of the shut down.  Any info?  please let me kneow

donkey love I heard the same thing on the 11/27 PIR group. I am not sure how it effects them. There will be a 10 day holiday break and the guys should be able to come home. Have your son verify the dates as soon as possible because airfare for the holidays is increasing by the day. They will be using leave time accrued, which is 2 and a half days a month starting in BC. Its up to them whether they want to use all their time. If he is going to BUDs then he may not be home for quite awhile after the holidays.

It doesn't seem like they could have accrued enough leave for that much time? What happens if they opt to stay on base till closer to Christmas, and just take the 10 days. Or are the ten days taken as a part of future accrued leave? We haven't had any family in the military since WWII so this is all very mysterious to me!
We bought our plane tickets to the PIR, it will be so good the see and talk to our son directly. Never thought I'd miss the five word texts. Thanks for any info, so glad my husband found out about this online group.

My son also mentioned possibly coming home for Thanksgiving.  We are driving to PIR.  He mentioned maybe bringing him his car so he could drive home.  I'm not too crazy about that idea.  If anyone finds out anything, please post.

lovesfall, they cannot have cars there. Trains and taxis are their only transportation. Do you live close to base? They will still have phase 1 liberty, which means they have to stay within the 50 mile radius. Also watch is rotated. He will know which weekends they are after PIR. They cannot leave base during those weekends.

Mumser, your son will have the most accurate infor regarding the holidays. They probably do not have enough time saved up, but I do believe they can go into the negative. My son's PIR was in October and he had to do that. They usually do not have to be back until the Jan 1st, but to be on the safe side, weather wise, it would not hurt to return a little earlier.

Sjtina, thank you for the info. We live 12 hours away. I think he thinks that he might get leave after PIR before his A school starts. (Because of Thanksgiving) And he wants to drive home for a couple of days. .My SR is one resourceful guy. I can tell you stories. Lol. I think a car at GL is a bad idea anyway.

if you sailor is in 802 he will not be going into A School but waiting for a Buds group.

Its only a week, there is a division right after yours who will be classing up with your guys. Yes they will have to stay there. The base offers a Thanksgiving meal, although I know its not as good as home. There are also many families in the area who open up their homes to groups of sailors.

Thanks. Hoping for another letter soon!

Made my reservations ladies.  woo hoo!!
