This month's adoptees are the crew of the mighty USS Shoup!

The crew has been  deployed for approximately 5 months and they are not turning back anytime soon. This is a small ship so they don't have access to many comfort items. They are in need of support from home to boost morale and spirit, we need to send them some love!

Not to over-rule Tammy, but you might want to consider that the November adoption will be getting their boxes close to Christmas so they won't have time to write and send Christmas messages to family and friends at home.  My thought would be to go ahead and send them.  We are talking about 300 sailors & who knows how many each one might like to have to send.  I'm certain they won't go to waste.

I sent 3 boxes. I didn't have room to put in blank Christmas, birthday or other holiday cards but I can get some and mail them if I need to?

thank you Kim that is wonderful.  It is completely up to you if you send them.

I sent 5 boxes today.  Two with female items and three with candy, drink mixes, noodles, granola bars, etc.

Kim, your comment made me think (uh-oh), but maybe we should consider sending blank birthday, anniversary, thinking of you cards from time to time to our adoptees and SH patients.  I never thought of other holidays before.  But the biggies might be (besides b'day and anniversary) - Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Certainly something to think about...

Hey there...

I connected with a Chaplain from an adoption a couple of years back... I send him cards of all types... Holidays, graduations, anniversary, birthday, just because, etc...  he keeps them in a box for the sailors to thumb thru and take as needed in his office....  gives him a chance to connect with the sailors when they come to get a card or two.  Round the holidays there is much more traffic he says... but it is the 'quiet' holidays a birthday, anniversary or graduation that others may not know about that seem to be tougher to get thru 'alone'.

Maybe some thinking of you cards from Shuk as the injured need to connect home to let them know they are healing and thinking of home??

OK, according to my calculations, from all the posts,   147 boxes of love going to the SHOUP!!!  WHOOP WHOOP

Tammy, HUGE Molly hugs and THANK YOU for a job well done!!!! YOU ROCKED IT TAMMY!!!!

Thanks Pat, but you know it wouldn't be possible without all the moms and dads out there!

My contact on ship will be sending pictures, do you want them for posting or should I post them?

please be sure to post those pictures... would love to include them in newsletter!!

Go ahead and post them right here!!!

THIS JUST IN FROM THE USS SHOUP... 47 boxes have arrived.  A couple of comments, "these are the best care packages ever!" and "there is so much stuff in each box!".  I can't wait to get pictures to share with all of you.
