OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

New Navy Wife! Questions about first move!!
Okay so here is the deal.
My now Husband and I just got married on Monday.(YAY!!!!!)
The paperwork is in DEERS already and I just have to go get my ID made and we are good to go!
Now, He is a Point Loma Marine Warefare base in San Diego, and has gotten verbal orders to 32nd street naval base san diego, and is on hold on Point Loma waiting for his official orders to post.
I however, am in Georgia, in college. I will be transferring schools and moving out there Dec 1, he is going to fly out here and help my drive cross country to move out there.
So of course we are saving every penny for the move, estimated 500$ for hotel gas food etc..and then we plan on staying off base in san diego, so theres a deposit and first months rent too..
so here are my questions!
1. When should our first BAH hit? Paperwork was filed today, oct 25...
2. Since we were technically married before he got his official paper orders, does that mean he can add/amend me on to his orders and they will pay for our move, reimburse us for gas and stuff??
Also any tips for our first move??

First of all congratulations! Second of all, is your husband an STG?
Now to answer some of your questions....
1) BAH can take a couple of weeks to a couple of months. If he's at the same base my husband was at (Point Loma ASW) we got BAH the paycheck after the paperwork was filed. Some people don't receive for 2-3 months.
2) Since he hasn't gotten his hard copy orders yet (verbals don't mean anything) you will be on them & they will pay for your move. He can file for them to give you advance DLA (the money they give you to move that covers hotels food gas etc). But he can't do that until he has official hard copy orders. And that takes time too, like 3-4 weeks. So make sure he files for it right away.
You will have to decide if you want them to pack & ship your HHG (you might not be eligible for that if your address wasn't the same as his, someone else I'm sure can clarify) or if you want to do a DITY move where you guys pack and move your own HHG.
Also-my husband and I moved from FL to San Diego on our own (we were not reimbursed since we were not married when he got his hard copies) and just in case you need to pay for anything yourselves $500 will not be enough. Expect to need more. -

1) yes he is at point loma asw, so hopefully ours will be that quick too!
2) Since he is still waiting on his orders on hold, what happens if he doesnt get them for another few weeks, (supposed to be anyday) that plus the 3-4 weeks processing will be a bit late for our move Dec 1... so will be just have to pay out of pocket and they will reimburse us?
also, I have my car here and no furniture at all, (im currently living in a dorm at the University of Georgia) do you think our best choice is to have him fly out here and we just drive my car stuffed with all my clothes etc? Im not familiar with the moving practices, my family always had military movers come and pack it up, but I dont really need that seeing as I just have enough stuff to fit a tiny dorm!

If he flys out there, the Navy will not pay for him to fly there...They only pay for him to move from his school command to his first duty station.
If you have nothing, then yes it is best to just do it yourself if it all fits in your car.
He needs to go to Personal Property and PSD and talk to them about your situation if the Navy will even pay to move you or not.
FYI, it costs a lot to live in San Diego...I would really recommended as a young couple you look into base housing

Congrats on getting married!
Since he is only moving from one base to another (I think a 50 mile radius is the minimum required for an authorized move), I don't think you will be eligible for any type of move. The expectation is if he is living out in town, there is no need for him to move since the two bases are only 15 minutes apart. I may be mistaken, but I can't envision the navy paying to move a new spouse cross-country when the service member has already been stationed in the area for a while.Most likely scenario from my understanding is that he could fly to you and the two of you drive cross country, but it would be entirely out of pocket for you. If anyone has any experience with that, I would love to hear it!
Just checked with hubby and he confirmed what I thought; you will not be eligible for moving expenses. Wish I had better news for you.
