Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 803 and 804

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining this discussion to answer your questions about the "800" division.

Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

Hi Aunt Bee,

We will be visiting the area for our son's graduation during Thanksgiving weekend as well.  I have been looking for restaurants near the base.  I finally decided on Texas de Brazil in Schaumburg, IL.  Mapquest states that this will be a 50 min drive from Great Lakes.  We ate at this restaurant in Memphis, TN a few years ago.  They offer a very nice buffet, and their ad said, "Turkey, dressing ,sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce," so since our son will be very hungry, I thought this would be a good choice.  They will also be serving their regular items.  In Memphis, servers would come around to your table and slice off different meats for you to try.  Google and see for yourself.  Make reservations, of course, this will be a busy day.  I looked at several nice restaurants closer to Great Lakes, but most were not open on Thanksgiving day.  Good luck, and I hope you have a nice dinner!

Thanks baybreeze97, got my reservations.

Great!!  If you google, Texas de Brazil, general website, you can view all their locations, style of the steakhouse, and their menu. You can also click on the Schaumburg photo, and it will take you to a site where you can see inside photos.  Looks very nice!  I got excited when I saw 15% military discount, then it says, "excludes holidays."  I am going to ask anyway though.  Make sure your sailor has his ID with him.  I suppose they are use to having it on them all the time :)

Aunt Bee, I am staying at the Navy lodge and i emailed them the same question and they sent me a list (2pages) of restaurants in the area - I am sure they probably have this list in the lobby but if you want, message me your email address and I will send it to you too.  Just remember, the farthest they are allowed to go is 50 miles (according to their "rules on liberty" page).

You can also check out Chicago. It is within the 50 mile radius and not that far of drive or train ride. You can catch the train close to base.

We got letters from our son yesterday, also. My husband had sent him a "survey," which he loved! He requested more, so I found one online, edited it, and added some questions. I have uploaded it if anyone is interested in using it.

Great survey thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing. I will definately be sending my SR this one!

Thanks so much for this survey, so cute!  I have two sons that just joined the navy, one here and one in OCS in Newport, RI.  Sending the survey to both, they will enjoy filling this out.  Thanks, again!!

I sure wish there was a LIKE bottom for the comments.

Jolene2sailors, I love your survey. I sent my son something similar this week. I wish I would have seen yours first, it had some really good questions.
I got a letter yesterday...I guess my sr is a " stick".. in case you are wondering.. my sr says. Monday will be week 4 day 1 that is, for division 803. I think that is hell week... so happy I got a letter.. now I can go another week... :-) have a great weekend...

I'm so glad the survey is useful to more than just me. :)
