Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 803 and 804
Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).
sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining this discussion to answer your questions about the "800" division.
Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.
Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.
We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.
Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Ladies, I would like to address privacy issues. I cannot stress enough that you should be careful who you accept friend requests from. Until you get to know other veteran moms, I would stick to those within your PIR date. There is a member with the name Brishin who will try to friend request you. Ignore it. He/she claims to be a instructor and has wreaked havoc in other groups beyond bootcamp. Its not too early to practice being careful especially considering the path your sons have chosen.

I just newly joined this group, how can I make friends and still be cautious. I accepted a friend request, but, really I don't know anything about the person. Any tips?

When I joined N4M several months ago it wasn't too long before I received a friend request from Brishin. I read the boards for a while before commenting, and it took quite a while before I started to feel comfortable reaching out to people and accepting friend requests. My suggestion is listen to your gut, mommytimes5. I still try to be very cautious and will continue to be so as my son continues through this.
Dragon7, at one time I found a list of things to make sure our sailors have as they begin BUDS prep, Butt Paste being one of those items. I've been thinking about this all weekend, wanting to start my 'collection' of things to take to my son when it finally comes time for PIR. Of course, he has gained weight since being there so I'm not going to take any of his clothes - figure we'll probably have to shop for him that week!

mommytimes, barefoot is right about your gut feelings. I know it is hard to know who is ok to accept as a friend, but its easy to look around and see who is posting regurlarly. I would start with them since you will eventually meet them at PIR. They will be your lifeline throughout your son's journey, along with other moms that you are comfortable sharing with. Use private messaging if you are not sure and please dont hesitate to ask the veteran moms for their input. Thats what we are here for. Eventually you will all be using private messaging to keep in touch. While at PIR or the meet n greet, get to know each other as best you can

I would like to second what sjtina said. You can not be too careful. Always follow OPSEC. Make sure you do not say anything here that will identify your son. Never use his name. My BUDS group used made up names for our sons so we didn't have to keep saying "my son". Make sure you page is set to private if you haven't done that. The instructors in BUDS will get on and check so start now being very careful.
I haven't read through all your posts so this may have already been talked about but I thought I would mention some things that my son wanted me to bring him. First, his own boxer shorts! Also, low cut socks, his own running shoes, a couple of sets of civilian clothes, athletic shorts/shirt. I also bought him Superfeet insoles for his boots. He really liked those.
I know you are getting excited because PIR is close. It is an awesome experience!

Thanks sjtina and dragon7 for the heads up. I don't post much but read all of the post on the PIR group and on this discussion. My daughter and son call me a Twitter/ facebook stalker. I guess I am now a N4M stalker as well. I have done this since they were younger and got into instant messaging just to keep up with what was going on.
I am sending my son the list that somebody posted the other day and asking him to check the things that he would like me to bring and list anything else.

mommytimes dont forget the cell phone, laptop, ipod etc. And most important the chargers for all that stuff.
dragon mentioned superfeet. These are insoles for their boots and running shoes. They are a bit expensive but very popular and I am sure well worth it.
The rooms they will be moving into are subject to inspection, except for the closet, so they do not have enough room for too much stuff. Besides they will have to ship it home after Prebuds.
