My Fiance left for boot camp today and I'm just curies about a few things.  When can we get married?  We would like to make sure that I am placed on his orders as well.  Can he get married the weekend between boot camp and A school?  If not is he allowed to get married at all during A school when he has reach level three of liberty?

From what I know, they can get married anytime after boot camp. Its just up to the two of you to make time for it. I'm planning on doing the same thing with my fiancé. He leaves in December.

I would not try to get married the weekend between boot camp and A School.  Often they have to sign a statement saying they will NOT get married that weekend, and there can be repercussions if they do.  Also, there may simply not be enough time to physically get it done.  It's a rushed weekend.  He may be on a plane the morning after PIR.  You won't know until you get down there and he gets his travel info.  Instead of running around trying to get married, ENJOY your weekend with your fiance.  He can submit a chit to get married while in A School.

I should add that he will be going to A school in Great Lakes as well.  I just really wasn't sure and was told by one person he couldn't get married in A school and his recruiter told him that he could.  So I just was super confused

If he is going over to A school in GL then he needs to put a request chit in to get married at his A school. Idk what all they make him do for that A school, but you might be able to find a group on here for that particular A school location and a girl or two might know what you need to do to get it done. He will not have time to get married before he checks into A school and once he is there he plays by their rules. so he has to do it when they say he can. He can typically get married in A school just google the rules for that county and then have him get a chit put in asap to start the process!

At Great Lakes, they can choose to come down like a ton of bricks if a request chit isn't submitted.  They might not, but it varies a lot from school to school, each chain of command is different.  Great Lakes is the strictest training command concerning marriage, do not skip the chit.

The purpose of the chit is to make sure the sailor isn't entering a fraudulent marriage, and that he gets the proper counseling on how to make sure he gets all the benefits for his dependents, plus a little financial and premarital class.  It only takes a week or two to run, and they can't legally tell him not to marry.  More like a head's up so he can get time off to take care of business.

Phase three does mean he can get time off to spend with you, but if his school is short, you need to get it done ASAP, during phase two.  Phase one is possible, just very limited.  Plus, he needs to find out his duty rotation, as he can't leave base when he has duty.  No need to try it that weekend then!

they have to have premarital class or both of us do?

Just him.  But if you have access to a free one, it can't hurt (just saying because I have no idea about your age or experience).  Sometimes a counselor is a good source of information and resources you never considered.

I agree do not skip the chit. My husband was told by 5 of his LPO's to not to the paperwork.. literally two days before I was leaving to go to FL to get married his Chief heard about it, called him in, ripped him a new one, and told him I had to be there the next day or we couldn't get married. I couldn't just drop everything and go down there with two days left of work plus two midterms. So his chief after ripping all the LPOs a new one told my husband the only way we would get married would be if an LPO risked getting in trouble by letting him leave before liberty was called. We ended up getting married but only because an LPO that felt bad for telling him the wrong information let him leave before liberty hours so we could get to the courthouse and let him leave without a buddy and just said I came in to get him. When I hadn't.

My husband and I got married last year while he was in A-school in Great Lakes.  He graduated from boot camp  during the first week of December.  He filled out his chit to get married on the Monday after he graduated.  He had to attend sessions with a chaplain and a financial planning class.  We knew that Great Lakes was going to be on stand down for the holidays, so we got married in my hometown during that time and actually had a real wedding ceremony with out family and friends although I had to plan it in 6 weeks (we were able to talk on Thanksgiving day to set the date).

I hope this helps you a little, but it is very possible to get married while in A-school.
