We are beginning to count down the days before our daughter leaves.  We have a party planned for the 23, visits with family Thanksgiving week, and then she leaves.  I am seriously proud of her, but to be honest, there are times I can scarcely breathe.  So hard to let her go.

My son also leaves Dec. 2nd so they will be there together! He called me last night, very emotional and said it "just now hit him" that he was leaving and how much he will miss his wife and 11 month-old daughter. I did my best to encourage him but it is going to be difficult for him I know. He is my youngest and has never been away from home longer than a week or two!

My daughter is not married; just out of high school.  Can't imagine leaving a wife and child behind.  You must be very proud of his willingness to serve.  And, that says a lot about your daughter-in-law as well.

This is the last morning my son will be here. I take him in a couple hours to the station for his hotel stay.

So proud of him and trying to stay focused on the amazing adventure he is beginning. I'm sure I will a blithering fool after I see him drive off with his recruiter and the other future sailors.

We leave in about 2 hours. Daughter is headed to Great Lakes.  Where is your son headed?

My son will be leaving for BC shortly, going to be dropping him off at station.
The bucket full of mixed emotions. So very proud of him.
All the momma's out there on this site, good to see you on board here.

We take her to the station in about 2 hours. She will stay the night at the MEPS hotel and be on the plane for Great Lakes in the morning.  I am proud beyond words myself.   I will be praying for you today.

My son leaves Dec. 2. His date was pushed back and we were thinking it would be pushed back again until May, when he found out last week that he would leave on the second. I feel very unprepared but he can't wait to leave and didn't want to wait until May, so he's happy. I am so very proud of him and happy that he's doing what he wants to do. I know it will hit me sooner or later, but hopefully not until after he's gone. But this helps, so thank you. Just found this site today and knowing what awaits us helps a lot.

We are headed right now to watch my son get sworn in and then he will be off to the airport today as well.  It has definitely been a roller coaster, but I have never been more proud.

I wish we were able to go see my daughter be sworn in this morning. The recruiter and several others who have gone through this said the chances are slim that we would even see her. She felt it was probably best for us to say goodbye last night. Next time I hear will be the "box" call.

Enjoy your day. Congratulations!
I wasn't able to view the swearing in. I would have liked to. GL is only an hour or so away. It's so odd knowing he's so close and I can't contact him. I hope the next "couple" weeks go fast!

My son left on the second also I wonder have any of you received a second phone call yet? I just received my graduation information yesterday. I was excited to recieve that but would love to hear his voice for more than 1 minute

Mouse49735 - My son left on the 2nd as well and I received a phone call from him (about 10 min) on Sunday afternoon.  He is on Ship 02 Div 911 and has PIR 1/24/14.  I was very surprised to hear from him as I was expecting it would be 2-3 weeks before he earned privileges. From what I understand it can be different for every division, so you may not receive that 2nd call for a week or two yet.  I received the form letter yesterday as well, so it sounds like everything but the call is the same as my son. Hang in there, I know how hard this is.  I will be praying you get your call soon!!
