Looking for anyone else with a SR in my son's Ship and Division.  I was so happy to get his form letter today!

You've joined PIR 02/07/2014 TG 13. Others will be joining you there as they get the form letter. Divisions 083 and 084 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.  There will later be a discussion within that group for the two divisions.

I got a call from my daughter today!!  I was so happy to hear her voice; my heart was racing and I was shaky! lol I cried but not too much. We didn't get to talk about much as it was a "business call" she needed some addresses and phone numbers for security clearance I guess. Sounds like stuff that should've been taken care of before she left but hey, the recruiter dropping that ball worked out in my favor.  She just said she's doing good and that they take they're swim test tomorrow.  She sounded good and reassured me she's doing ok so that put my mind at ease a bit.

Hello,

My son is also on ship14 div 83 with a graduation date of 2/7/14. I received his form letter also and went onto the website suggested and watched Faces of navy Bootcamp (its on youtube.com), and it was very eye opening. I am so glad to meet you.

My son is also on ship 14 div. 083. I received a call today in the morning, but missed it. My phone was on silent. If you get a call & speak with your son can you let me know how that unit is doing? My son left a 10 sec. Message and it broke my heart!

Diana,

I am so sorry you missed the call. My son said they should be able to call again next week at the same time. They let us talk for about 12 minutes. They have 97 male and female recruits and they are part of a "push" division, where they do 8 weeks in 6; so it is very fast paced. He was tired, sore, and he is building relationships with his fellow recruits.

My son said that we will only be able to bring three people to the graduation instead of the 4 that are usually allowed I think because the class is larger than usual. I have to work next Saturday but hope to be able to take the call anyway. I wish a peaceful week for you and pray that you will be able to talk with your son soon, take care.

Thank you so much for all the details! I feel so lost and in the dark ,not knowing anything so that really helped me feel comforted. I thought they were saying 3 people to hold that over their head not realizing the size of the class! I pray for this group, also sounds like more pressure doing 8 weeks in 6. I wonder why if they still graduate at the same time as everyone else.

Things are so confusing.  I got a call from my son this morning, but he was only allowed about 2 minutes to speak to me. It was heartbreaking because he was extremely stressed out and unhappy.  He feels like he's made a mistake and was so down.  He's having a terrible time.  I would have loved to have been able to talk to him for 12 minutes. :(

I don't understand the part about it being a push division.  My son arrived on 12/10, but if you don't count the rest of that week and start counting weeks on the 16th, that means with a 2/7 graduation date, they are doing 8 weeks, not 6.  So, I'm confused about that too.

I hope the next time I hear from him, he is doing better because I was a wreck after we got off the phone.  I'm so worried about him.

The new SRs are often in shock the first couple of weeks.  They get better as they learn and they all work together as a unit.  The first call being "down" is quite normal.  It is okay to "mom worry", but really, don't panic.

The holiday stand down affects their training, even though they only have a couple days of relaxed routine,  more must be done on the days which are working days.
