My son is departing for BC Dec. 11th.  I am very proud of him and all those who choose to serve in the military.  That being said I feel like I am ready to come apart at the seams and I don't want him to feel my anxiety! I have so many questions and I don't know where to start.

My son left for BC on 12/11 also from Petersburg, VA.  I was ok in the weeks before he left but the closer it got the harder it got.  By the time I got to the MEPS building on Tuesday I was a wreck.  I tried to do my best and not cry in front of him but that only lasted until I went to hug him good bye.  He said "Why are you crying it's only going to be 2 months."  They have no clue how hard it was and is for us Moms to be separated from them.  I have had good days and bad days.  I got the box on Friday.  I am now patiently waiting for the letter and the phone call.  Neither one is coming fast enough.  I think with it being around the holidays it is making it much harder.  I have discovered though that the busier I stay between work and home I try not to think about it to much.  This website has been a HUGE help though.  It is nice to have people out there that know exactly what you are going through and are willing to listen while we vent.

My son also depart on Dec 11th from Tampa.  It has been a very emotional week for me but I'm so proud of him and the choices he has made.  I know that he will be fine but I still worry.  I never realized how hard this would be on me and his father.  When his older sister left home, one to college and one 1800 miles away to live and work, it did not hit me like my son leaving.

Hello there!  I was just curious if any of you moms that sons left on the 11th have recieved that form letter?  I know I recieved the box, but as of this morning, no letter... Katz, you are pretty close to me in location, have you gotten anything from your son yet?  Also.. just wanted to see how everyone is doing.. it has been a week today.. ugghh and I can't even believe it.  I miss him so much right now!!!

Still waiting on the form letter also.  I'm ready for it to arrive.  It seems like it has been longer than a week since he left.

No letter as of yesterday. It is hard to believe it has been a week. I have a stack of letters to go out can't wait to mail them. I'm looking forward to finding out his PIR date...plan plan and more planning. Happy holidays to everyone on this site!!!

I haven't received mine either; I keep hoping to see it in the mailbox every day. Congratulations to all of us for making it through the first week! We're only getting closer to seeing them again. Stay strong!

Hi Ladies!! I am super excited. My son left to boot camp on the 11th. I got his box 3 days ago and today I got his first letter. PIR is Feb 7!!!!  Ship 11 Div 090!!!!  This is my second time. I have a son already in the Navy. Proud mommy.

Ship 11 div 090 it is!!!

Hello everyone, and happy Saturday.  I am both elated and so disappointed.  I missed my son calling this morning.  I was at breakfast with friends and I was so not expecting a call this soon.  The good news is that he left me a message and he is doing well.  He sounds good, but a little stuffed up.  He did NOT leave me his ship number or division and I haven't received the letter yet, so that was kind of a bummer.  He did say he might get to call later, so the phone is now GLUED to my side on the loudest setting.  Also the number was an 847 number.  Hope the rest of you all got calls today!!  I don't know if the mail has come yet today, so I am not going to entirely give up hope yet.

Got the letter!!  Katze you should get one today too!!  Did your son call too?  Mine is in Ship 09 Div 088!!  PIR is Feb 7th!
