Away at Great Lakes (Away in a Manger)
Away at Great Lakes
With their shaven heads.
The Seamen Recruits
sleep on hard metal beds.
The moms here at home
All day we do pray,
Our Seaman Recruits
Will call home today.
The mailman is coming,
He brought one! Hurray!
The Seaman Recruit
Just made someone's day!
The letter is read
Without a dry eye.
The tension has lifted,
With a very big sigh.
The letter brings comfort
And wipes fears away,
This won't be forever,
I count down the days
Until graduation
(We bought our airfare)
We asked for vacation,
So we will be there!

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! The words ring so true and it's been almost 2 years since my son was at GL.
Studies have shown time and time again that music can help heal, energize, boost immunity, and lift spirits. The positive effects of music can be just what you need to give you a boost and keep you going during stressful or busy times.
I hope these give you a boost and help in this stressful time!
(((hugs)))

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things, Boot Camp version...
Radio blaring and play station playing,
On the recliner all relaxed and resting,
Glued to the cell phone and also texting,
These are a few of my fond memories.
Pot Roast and carrots, and mom's mashed potatoes,
Chicken and gravy with hot buttered noodles,
Burgers and fries and buffalo chicken wings
These are some meals my SR is missing.
Sailors in dress blues, they look so impressive!
Protection and freedom to our nation they will give.
Pride and assurance that training sure brings,
This is what makes my heart just want to sing.
When the mail comes, when the phone rings,
When I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember the pride this all brings.
And then I don't feel so bad.
I love both of them!! I have tears in my eyes.....again!
Jolly Old St. Nicolas re-do
When you miss your Navy child,
While they're far away,
Just remember why they're there and
Write them every day.
When your checking NavyMoms,
Many friends you'll meet.
Listen to the veteran moms,
They are oh so sweet.
Pass in Review is coming soon,
And it's hard to wait.
Book your room and travel plans,
As you watch the date.
When our Sailors file in,
Marching in a row,
Think of all that they now know,
The pride in them will show.
Johnny wants a long hot shower.
Susie wants a bed.
Nelly just keeps rambling on,
Too much to be said.
They will have to leave too soon.
A-School is what's next.
This time when they go their way,
We can call and text!
love it...
That was great Erin! What happened to Vines that bind??? I'm still having wine but miss all you ladies!!!
I think there is confusion on the Vines that Bind "location". Tonight I was in the chat room. Where were you?
Here's a new ditty… Joy For Recruits! Enjoy it!
Joy for recruits, the mail has come;
Let all their names be called
With every letter, there's news from home
And jokes or riddles too,
Full of pride for all they do
With pride, with pride for all they do.
Joy for recruits, the PT test is done
Let all of them now rest
Done are the sit ups, push ups and the run
They did their very best,
They passed their PT test,
They passed, they passed their PT test
BattleStations are their final test
Their knowledge they will prove
All that they have learned, And teamwork they have gained
Will trade their recruit cap in
A Sailor was within
A Sailor, A Sailor was within.
