Hello ladies! I just wanted to reach out to anybody who had a recruit leave on the same date! I could really use somebody to count the days down with that understands the struggle! Anyone get a box or PIR date yet or address? I know all of this comes at once, but I kinda think his PIR date will be 2/7/14 I hope that is correct atleast. I'm fairly new to all of this I'm flooding my brain with info to help with the worry. Is it too early for phone calls? I know he wont be able to write until next Sunday probably. I began writing letters yesterday. Any advice or conversation would be great!

It isnt easy BUT you both know that school is important. To be honest we are so busy all the time with school and life that it isnt too hard. on long breaks youll be able to go stay with him. We always have countdowns in our phones and we try to have "skype dates" We both go to the same place for dinner and eat together while we talk online. It takes adjustment but if I can do it I believe you can too. Also communication and compromise are important. I cant speak for any marriage but my own. I am in a new Navy marriage where one person is in university so I hope you know that this is just my opinion.
I just believe that if your ready to man the distance of this relationship as a girlfriend then youve earned the right to do it as a wife. The benefits out way the set backs and it is not permanent. Regardless, you will miss him. Regardless, it wont be easy. It is important to stand alone so you can stand together. Hooyah!
Great advice! Congratulations by the way! It helps when somebody who is already in the situation sheds some light on things. Thank you so much!
No call, but his mom got his form letter! His PIR date is officially 2/7/14. I feel a little better atleast I know he is alive. Good to see atleast his handwriting. A little bummed we did not get a call, but I'm sure it will be soon. I'm excited to start sending him letters! How did he sound? From reading some other posts from some moms I get the impression everyone is sick which is understandable with that weather there. I hope he's doing good! I know hearing his voice was great for you. Which ship and division number is he? As for your story of how you guys met... You went through some of the same things I did in the beginning! This is so crazy lol. I didn't like him at all at first either, but he randomly texted me one day telling me how he felt about me so we started being friends. He dated this girl I was friends with too except I wasn't as smart as you then I tried to stay friends with her, but eventually I just stopped being her friend. It wasn't the best idea. He also joined the Navy without telling me. I knew he wanted to be in the military, but I thought we'd talk about it before he decided officially. The same day he joined he came to my house all excited and I just wasn't. It was about a week before we graduated from high school and we had plans to move here to Louisiana and go to college together and all that was out of the question after he joined. I wasn't happy at all and he wasn't happy when I still decided to leave for school..we've had a lot of ups and downs, but we realized our love too lol. I would be going crazy right now had I lived with him before he left. I've been to Oklahoma a few times. I lived in Kansas for a year awhile back and my school took some field trips there and my mom and I went on vacation there for a few days a long time ago. I like it there! Small quiet towns, atleast it was where we went compared to here anyway. I hope you're having a good weekend! We'll be able to cross off another week before you know it!
He is on Ship 11 Div 089. I can't wait to hear from him! Hopefully things get a little easier after that. The harder days drag on and today definitely was a harder day, but I'm keeping my spirits up best I can. We'll be seeing them before we know it!
I know I can't wait! As soon as there is more time behind us than ahead of us I think it might be easier on us and them. Hopefully we get some letters soon! Have a good week, Merry Christmas!
Hey ladies! My BF left Dec 10 and his PIR is 2/7/14. I connected with SP94, but didn't see this discussion. His box and form letter arrived earlier this week, and I have just started sending letters. My phone has never been so quiet. And I'm honestly very green about this whole military thing and just trying to learn what I can. Would love to keep up with you and encourage each other. I have not seen much activity on the GF, Wives, and Fiance of Sailors page thus far. Do you guys know where your sailor heads to next? Mine stays at GL for 4 weeks.
A Christmas call is another one of those "maybe" things. So many recruits, so few phones. But fingers crossed!
My husband didn't get to call on Christmas.. they had a nice huge dinner, and then their RDCs decided they were going to work em until they made someone puke. He said he actually wished they pretended it wasn't Christmas instead of what they did. :/
Hey Everybody! Just wanted to see how y'all were doing and how your weekend went! My SR called this morning he sounded great just tired, I put his mom on so she could talk too I barely could I was crying so much. It was good to hear his voice! I hope you all are getting calls and letters too! Keep sending them letters they should be able to start sending some out soon too.
