Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 907 and 908

Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Have u checked your " other " folder ?

Hello All

My daughter is on Ship 02 Div. 908. We are planning on driving from Fl. to GL. for graduation on 1/3/14. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

Suggestions about what? There are several knowledgeable veterans on here. I'm sure you'll get lots of ideas. I have a refundable plain ticket but I'm going to wait to see what the weather will be before I decide if I'll drive or not. Either way, I'm taking the free hotel shuttle ti the PIR.

Hi Bambimom,

My son is also on Ship 02 Div 908. You are a brave one for driving, I'm a little nervous about flying from Phily to Chicago. If they say they have to de-ice the plane I think I'll do a 360 and pass out. Have you checked the weather forecast for that time frame. My son's last letter was telling me to hang tight, how cute is that.

Hi lifeisanadventureSHIP 02 DIV 908

I have been watching the weather. I am planning to leave really early on Wednesday and take my time to get to Chicago. My fear in flying is that the flight gets cancelled. I am leaving from Florida so I will have a long way to go before I run into the snow. If the weather gets to bad on Wednesday I will still have an extra day if needed to make a change of plans. That is really cute, sounds like your son and my daughter are doing pretty good.

frannybananny:  Are you staying at the Ramada?  That is where the free shuttle is (their own van).  The other hotels use the local taxi service which acts as shuttles that morning to PIR, $3/pp each way, sailor can return with you as long as not staying in GL for A School (those sailors move over there shortly after PIR directly from RTC....you pick them up later for Liberty).  Sarge also has a taxi/shuttle service...same price.  Sarge's contact info:   847 212 0246 or johnspadaro@att.net  He is the one with the MeetandGreet the night before PIR and you can actually sign up there for his shuttle service.  He also shuttles from the airports.

Renting a car is still the most economical way....the shuttles/taxis can get a bit pricey even though Sarge gives Navy families a little discount.  Sharing a cab with other ladies on here is a way to cut down your cost!

I am staying at Red Roof. They told me their shuttle is free. I have made arrangements for a rental car. If I wind up driving from NJ, depends on the forecast, I will have my car. Still taking the shuttle to PIR.

Hi, I'm also from NJ and decided to fly out. I'm nervous either way.
Just don't want to miss it, I did hear possible snow on the 2nd.
Fingers are crossed, prayers are being said and the rest is up to Mother Nature. .
Did you leave? Looking at all the different weather outlooks
I'm getting very, very nervous!
Heard from my SR!! He is with the church from Indiana.
He's having such a good time! Merry Christmas everyone! 9 more days !!

Hey everyone. My son Logan is in Div 907 and is headed to Charleston, SC for Nuclear Power School following his Jan 3rd PIR. He was home with the Adopt-a-Sailor program today, and of course I asked a lot of questions. One was regarding his flight to SC. Apparently he'll be at the airport by 1:30 am on 1/4, and heading out around 5am (he wasn't really sure, but said he'd be finding out more on Tuesday.) It's going to be hard waiting with him at the airport overnight, but we'll do what we have to.

I also asked about where to sit for the ceremony. I was planning on sitting in the balcony so I could record everything and take photos. But I found out that since he's in the color guard, he won't be standing with the rest of his division, so we won't be able to see him much from where I had planned to set up camp. I'm glad I asked.

He speaks in acronyms now. I didn't see that coming, but I feel like I need to take a class. lol
