Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 911

Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Can anyone help me figure out what day the SRs are on?  I got a letter from mine written on Dec 8 saying it was 1-2 and a different letter on Dec 13 saying he thought it was 1-5.  Do we skip Saturday and Sunday when counting?  If we also skip Christmas Day and New Years Day, then by my count they have PIR on day 7-3.  Does this sound right?  I am so confused!!

Thats funny, my daughter hasn't mentioned anything about days and numbers

I just don't understand it all.  Sometimes I wish I didn't ask the questions that are suggested to ask.  It can complicate things.  I'm glad to have a clue to what they are doing, but on the other hand, if I don't know what test, or challenge they are doing, I don't stress over not knowing how they did.

Don't be confused you are probably right on the money. :)

Yes, you do skip Sat and Sun when counting training days, and you also skip Christmas and New Years. Saturday and Sunday are training hold days, and Federal Holidays are holidays, none of those days are counted as training days.

PIR is in week 7 unless the division is a push division.

My son is in this division and will be performing in drill.

I try to check the weather over there and what they could be doing at that time. Praying for then and wishing to see my baby singing at 01/10 PIR.

Do you know for sure if the singers DO sing on 1-10? My SR said he doesn't but that was a week or so ago

Hi, Good morning, no I'm not sure just have hope !! are you guys planning to be in the Lodge?

      : )

                 It counts ... : D.

Got 2 long letters from my SR today!  Here are a few highlights...

Dec 24th wasn't considered an actual day because it was a Hold and the 25th is Holiday.  Thursday was also holding so Friday, December 27 would be 3-3 DOT.  I began tearing up when he began talking about his faith.  He went to service and bought a bible and began reading it.  He reminded me the true meaning of Christmas was Jesus and reminded me of the candy canes.  J is for Jesus, turn it the other way and it is the shepherd's staff.  White is the pureness of God and the red is the blood he shed.  The peppermint flavor is to represent the gifts of the wise men.  He hoped we weren't missing him too much for the holidays and were celebrating his decision to join the Navy! (sniff, sniff, dab, dab).

He said the week of the 6th they have 4 inspections, PFA, and a test.  He wants prayers for all during that time.  They are in MCS Phase 2 and soon moving onto the final phase (not sure what all that is).  He says "Nothing will stop me from graduating!".  He said they are slowly growing closer together as a division and as a team.  The next letter on the 29 was full of complaints about the division.  He said they were "stripped" of their jobs because of a select few.  Is this normal? Anyway, glad to hear from him, goods and bads...

Maybe the holiday slowed the mail and my daughters letters are on the way.  She's written pretty regularly so this lull has been longer than most.

Last one was dated 122/22/13.  Hope something shows up today the mail should be here anytime now.

Wonder what the deal is, I haven't heard from my daughter since I received a letter dated Dec 22nd.  No Christmas call, No New Years call. They must be keeping the SR's really busy.

The long wait is over, letter came today from my daughter.  She sounds excited, happy, tired, excited, challenged(physically and mentally), excited about performing in graduation. She said she'll be front and center since she plays Trombone. All is good with her and us. She even said that letters are the best presents she could ever receive. I am so proud to be her mom and happy she is finding her own way, with the guidance of the Navy.  This is why I became a parent and worked so hard to start "cutting the apron strings" long ago. If I shed tears they are tears of joy that she is running full steam into adulthood.
