Does anyone know of a rental car company that offers discounts for families attending the graduation?

We used Milwauke's airport and booked a rental car through Budget.  Check the sight daily because they post discounted rates often, but nothing on the site for PIR.  However, at the counter in the airport the agent asked where we would be taking the vehicle and I told him we were driving down to Great Lakes for our son's PIR he quickly offered us a free upgrade.

Thanks, I will be coming in through Midway since they had the cheapest fair for us, will check with Budget daily.

call sarge he knows alot about these things and plan on going to the meet and greet night before PIR

check out Ace Car Rental  they are pretty cheap--  They have a group code .  There information is on the brochure that was sent home with the "form letter".

I think Ace is only good if you fly into O'Hare

We are flying into Midway and I've been checking rental car rates for the past couple of days or so.  Getting a rental car at the airport (any Chicago airport) is a LOT more expensive.   I'm a Costco member and I checked on their website for rental car rates.  I still need to find out if there is a rental car shuttle from the airport - will call them tomorrow when they are open -but if there is - the rates through Costco for off-site locations a couple of miles or so from Midway Airport are significantly cheaper than rental car rates AT the airport.

The other option I considered was having the SARGE shuttle pick us up at the airport and take us to a car rental place in Waukegan - but when you add in Sarge's shuttle fee (approx. $87) from the airport to Waukegan, you're really not saving significant $$.

Wondering where these "discount coupons" that one of the Navy Moms found, are located.   I really don't want to have to spend as much for the rental car as the price for the airline tickets from Portland OR to Chicago-Midway.

Any suggestions much appreciated.  Will let you know what Costco says re the shuttle tomorrow.  Thanks to all.

I found that going through Costco Travel (on the Costco.com website), saves you a ton of money rather than going directly to one of the car rental companies' websites.  If you are a Costco member, check it out - they have a promotion on through the end of March that includes $30 - $40 off a 5 day rental, depending on the size vehicle you choose, plus 35% discount.  I found it cheaper to rent from an company located off-site from the Chicago Midway airport, where we plan on flying in/out of, than renting a car right at the airport.  The car rental companies all have shuttles to the off-site locations, I was told yesterday when I inquired.  So I can get a full-size car, with navigation for $200 for 5 days, including taxes.  Not too bad.

The car rental goes down but you must check. I started with a $295 for 3 days and now our rate is $139 so do your homework.LOL

Sorry 4 days

Which rental car company did you use?  Was it off-site from O'Hare?  Did you go through Costco?

Finally booked our car rental for 7Feb14 PIR. Made the reservation throgh Costcotravel.com website. They are running a special rt now through 2/28/14. We're taking Sarge's shuttle from Midway airport and getting the car at Budget car rental in Gurnee because that's the closest Budget to Waukegan IL and it's much cheaper than renting through Enterprise or even Avis. We were able to rent a full-size car for $144.00 incl taxes from 5 Feb to 10 Feb. We're going to drop off the rental at the Midway airport on the 10th since there is no additional fee to do so. We save about $300 going this route rather than renting at the Midway airport when we arrive. If you're a Costco member, check out Costcotravel.com under rental cars.

Thank you so much for the information about Costco!  I called last night, and reserved a rental car through them - Enterprise - for $119, for an intermediate size (4 days)!  When I saw the taxi/shuttle prices from O'Hare one-way, this was worth it! Great advice....I had not even though to check out their travel deals!  Thanks again!!
