Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 055 and 056

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

I posted that and I am pretty sure that's what's my son said. He is div 055 master at arms and was allowed a call from the seargents office. He wasnt real interested in talking about the captains cup and the phone connection was bad. He was more hyped that they were heading to taco bell than anything else. Kept going on and on about what he was going to order. LOL! But He also said they have won almost all the pennants they could and they go on the div's flag...? Not sure what that meant but he sounded happy about it. 5 more days!!!

There is a page about flags and pennants the divisions can earn in BC in the pages section on the main page of this group. The "pages" are located on the main page just under the member photos.

Hey ProudNavyBlue#1  Thanks for posting the info!   I am sure they would only be allowed to go to Taco Bell if they did win.   I think this group has done very well overall.  My son also reported they had won several flags for their division.  We cannot wait to see them on Friday.  What initial does your last name start with?   Wonder if our sons are friends?   Will you be at Sarges meet and Greet on Thursday?   Looking forward to meeting everyone.

My last is J my SR last starts with S. Ill be at the meet and greet :)
Thanks ellen0502!!!

Can any one tell me when to expect his "I am a sailor" call?

We cannot post the exact date on here but it will be in the next several days I would think.   They call you once they finish and pass.  They are up all night and call us the next day is what I understand.  I will message you and let you know what date my son said to me.

Calls usually start at 1500 and up til 1800 Great lakes time.

Well mommas...it is 0920 CST...if everything went according to plan we have official US Navy Sailors!

According to the Weather Channel after 29 consecutive hours in double digits below zero, Chicago just 'warmed' to -8. Hoping this 'warm up' continues and some calls start coming in.

If y'all want something else to think about for a while...

I received 2 letters from my son yesterday. When I checked the mail yesterday & saw 2 envelopes I was so happy & then laughed at the irony that I have only received 2 letters the whole time he's been in BC & in 1 day I get 2 more. He opened with...'Now that I have a minute to write' lol

First letter was dated 12-29-13. Here are some highlights from Div 056:

They started out with 70 in their division & are down to 63. 5 they lost early on to bad attitudes & swimming; 1 they dismissed for racism & the other for punching him. They did the gas chamber 12-27, everyone passed. Right after the gas chamber they ran their final PFA. Says they had a few that almost passed out, including himself, but they passed. Says they're concentrating on BS21 & are confident they will do well. They all got their specific rates finalized & were given some info on what to expect at A School. They were all given opportunities, several weeks back, to start accounts at either Navy Federal Credit Union or Armed Forces Bank. On a personal note he wants good Chicago Style deep dish pizza after PIR, a comfortable chair to sit in, to talk to us & a good book for the airport. :-)

Second letter, dated 1-1-14:

Everyone is getting really excited about the end of BC. All they had left to do was their final academic test & BS21. They are all feeling very confident about both. They've all been talking about A school & what they will be doing next. He said they all got to go to bed early New Year's Eve & it was the best gift ever! A whole 6 hours sleep! lol For the 1st they were on holiday routine, like a Sunday. He said they had a home-made chess tournament with all the nukes. One of them was a State Champion all through HS (this one belong to any of you?). He said it was nice to 'challenge his mind some'. They were going to get to do Firefighting the 3rd. This was squeezed into their schedule & they were excited about it.

Thanks for sharing, Sandrag. my son is 056. I too got a letter yesterday. Didn't get as much as you got. They got this!
You're welcome! I agree, they got this!
