I was trying to figure out how the registration for DEERS works so I called the local military ID office here in San Diego. They told me that because he hasn't left yet (leaves Monday the 27th) he is not yet registered until he leaves but that he has to be with me when I go into the office to sign for my id and register me. We'll he would be at bc. So they said my options are to get a power of attorney form and he won't need to be there when I go in. Or he will have to bring our original marriage cert my original birth cert, my ssc an other stuff. To be able to so it at bc. But his recruiter is saying no he can do it over the phone while at bc. I'm confused on what to do.

Also should he bring any paper work to bc with him?

Your recruiter is full of it!! He's not going to be able to call during boot camp for that. You can't go until boot camp sends you a letter with instructions on it. And yes you must of POA for him not to be there.
Okey so get the POA and I can't go into the office tell I get forms? What forms are they?
Boot camp sent me a letter that told me what to do about 2-3 weeks into boot camp. He will get there and file you as a dependent with them for his pay and once he's in the system you will be also and they will send you everything you need! :)
Okey so does he need to being our marriage cert. or any paperwork also do you by chance have any advice on what to pack for bc? We have envelops, stamps and phone card. What about any clothes or bathroom products like deodorant? Cash? Debit card?
Everything he wears to boot camp will be sent home In a box to you. It's smelly... lol he can only take a debit card. No cash. My hubby took copies in his wallet of my birth certificate, social, marriage certificate. I don't know if he used them but he had them so everything went smoothly. He's not allowed to take any bathrooms things. They will supply it. Make sure he's prepared the night he gets there he will not be sleeping! Make sure he's prepared to be up for 48 hours depending on what time he gets up the day he leaves. My advice is that he also takes your phone number and address. And anyone he might wanna contact during boot camp. I know it's silly bit they can be over tired and stimulated and some do forget it even when they say they won't. Better to be prepared :) the night he gets there you will receive a "I made it" phone call and that's it. It's 30 seconds. He can only send letters on Sundays but not until week 3 so it will be about 3 weeks before you hear from him. Don't think he forgot about you. :) hope this helps! If you think of anything else just let me know! :)
